I want to use these speakers for movies and tv only, should I worry about the harshness? Or is that applicable more to music? Newbie to speakers here.

The harshness? I have a pair of these, a RC-62 II center, pair of RB-61 II bookshelfs for rears, a pair of R-14S for side surrounds, and a pair of R-115SW subs in my living room. I love them and recommend them.

I have the front three speakers you mention and am on the hunt for the rest, almost the exact setup you mention (except maybe some RP250s for surrounds).

Even the wife and kids notice the difference in the awesome center channel.

The R-14S are simply a stopgap while I continue to wait for the RP-250S to go on sale. Never seen it go on sale for a reasonable price, so I grabbed these as temps.

Someone talk me down from buying another pair and using them as rear left/right!

The alternative is the rb-61 but then I have to deal with stands and the concern of the kid knocking them over.

Glad to see the free shipping come back for this deal. If you got the space for them, you will have a difficult time finding a better speaker for less than this.

Any harshness is greatly exaggerated. They are just slightly brighter than neutral and less bright than several other speakers out there. When it comes to speakers, the so-called audiophiles like to recommend speakers with recessed highs, which is often called warm, but to others are more aptly described as stuffy and lacking detail. Basically, sound is highly subjective. Tons of people use these for music with great reviews and no one speaker is perfect for all kinds of music. For home theater, these are outstanding as that slightly brighter sound helps a lot with vocal clarity and the high efficiency and horn loaded tweeters give phenomenal dynamics.

I have the rf-82 ii and rc-62 ii as my front stage. They are absolutely fantastic for all listening that I've done. I'd highly recommend them at this price.

The only thing that I can find that competes is diysound htm models. If you like to diy, check them out. If not, these are absolutely the way to go!

I wall mounted my RB-61s, but I kind of had to. My back "wall" actually opens to my kitchen so I got some clamp mounts and also ran a strap around them just to be sure. Last thing I need is one of those things falling on someone's head from 12 feet up.
