+16 Deal Score
11,593 Views
The Oculus Store [oculus.com] is hosting a sale until 11:59 pm PT on September 4 [oculus.com]. Many games have been discounted, including "45 titles across Rift and Gear VR available for up to 50% off:"

Additionally, the Oculus Rift headset itself has been discounted as part of the Summer Sale. The end of the sale means that the Oculus Rift + Touch Bundle [amazon.com] will likely increase in price from $399 to $499 after September 4th.

Thanks to reddit user notalakeitsanocean for compiling the list of games [reddit.com].

Are any of these games good? The best games I've played so far are the free ones... echo arena and the western shooter game. The one game I did buy which was the flagship game for oculus (valkyrie) did not impress me.

I'm a new Rift user myself so I don't have any opinions on these games yet. However, you can find a lot of discussion about them in the comments of this reddit post [reddit.com]. Also, if you look a game up using Oculus Home (and Steam in some cases) you can find reviews.

Most people don't regard EVE Valkyrie as a flagship game for Oculus. It has mixed reviews and doesn't even support Touch controllers, as far as I know. Lone Echo is a better example of a flagship game. If you haven't purchased any games then Lone Echo and Superhot VR are frequently recommended.

Elite dangerous is great. It's a little grindy and doesn't use touch controls but I find it fun and a good way to experience vr.

I'm really into the touch controller games and boy was I shocked to find out that a space flight sim game didn't support them. Anyway thanks I'll check super hot and lone echo.

Elite dangerous looks a lot like valkyrie and also doesn't have touch support as well. I don't get why they make games like this without touch support so you can sit in a chair with an xbox controller and feel immersed I guess. Hopefully they'll make some sort of mech warrior type game where you can use the touch features... hell i'd even play a spider man game with the touch controls if they had it.

There's another thread that lists two bundles, I suggest these threads get merged or something. It's kind of annoying flipping back and forth

I just bought the essentials bundle for $60, includes the climb, super hot VR, raw data, and Apollo 11

seems like a no brainer

The Oculus bundle is never going back up in price. They're trying to unload what they have as fast as they can since the new hardware is coming next year at which point no one at all will want this.

Maybe. but the new hardware is supposed to be more of a budget headset, to fill the gap between crappy Samsung VR and the like, and real VR such as Oculus and Vive. It's probably going to compete with Mixed Reality.

Everything gets cheaper when it comes to electronics.

You could wait until just before you die so you don't have to worry about price decreases

Oculus isn't real VR since it doesn't have decent room scale. It was designed to be a sitting experience, with the designers even pooh-pooing roomscale until Vive knocked it out of the park and they had to scramble to make their not-designed-to-scale-to-rooms camera sensors sort of kludge roomscale to compete. Vive does fantastic roomscale and also sitting experiences if you want.

Point is new hardware is months away. The first new hardware in years from Oculus or Vive, and the Vive one is wireless. I'd wait.
Not this crap again. Especially from an somone that doesn't even own one.

FFS, what is it with these armchair experts?

Go thread crap elsewhere.
