PSA: FreedomPop deactivating Phones with no Outbound calls using the FreedomPop Messaging VoIP app

Just found this out, haven't seen it reported here, but apparently this is a few months old news: FreedomPop Disabling Accounts With No Voice Use, Here's How to Re-Enable Yours
Worth to note "It's hard to be sure, but the deactivation for non-use policy appears to only affect FreedomPop GSM LTE SIM users. Most of the users who reported the issue on the FreedomPop forum didn't say which FreedomPop service (Sprint, Global GSM or LTE GSM) they were using, but those who did were all LTE GSM users."


Also, maximum total additional free data (through Freedom Friends) will be lowered by 500MB: FreedomPop Modifies Freedom Friends Program To Cut Maximum Free Data By 500 MB

and Sprint{forums-storename-auto-links} data will be throttled down to 1 mbps: Freedompop Now Throttling Sprint Free Plans to 1 Mbs, Charging $5/mo for Faster Data

Disconnect due to no calls seems to be limited to GSM phones at this time. No CDMA phones using Sprint network have reported the issue.

I have CDMA phone and have not seen it

I am getting phone numbers cancelled in addition to my account going "to sleep". I can re-wake the account, but I have to get a new number assigned.

And it affects SPRINT (CDMA) lines also. I just lost my number AND had account put asleep on a Sprint CDMA line. The line still has a $5 credit on it.

Got it. The short version of the solution (to your PSA's title) is login, click as instructed by the popup to reactivate. You made it seem much worse... Repped.

Looks like they liked R+'s m.o. so much they adopted it. Your number gets burned too. Glad I don't give it out.
Any data point(s) on time frame to be deactivated if no calls? I'll set a calendar reminder.

I was just bragging the other day to friends how awesome FreedomPop is. It seems like every time I say anything good about something, it almost immediately ceases to be good.

Extract the sip credentials from the plist file (on iOS) or database file on Android (may require jailbreak or root). Then use sipcmd to call the weather hotline once a month.

My Freedompop htc evo4g(cdma) phone stopped working this month...first i was only able to make outgoing...now neither outgoing nor incoming is working. Tried updating/restarting config...not working. I put in ticket...not sure if its involved with these Freedompop deactivating actions. Also my.freedompop.com did not have a reactivate button for the phone number, number still there online, but on phone, does not come up.

Hmmm... if this also applies to the Global SIM, that'd be a hassle. Most of us are not globally traveling all the time.
