Amazon has this 256 GB sdcard for quite a low price. I've been hunting around on ebay for a large capacity sdcard and discovered tons of them are fakes with the controller hacked to appear to have more memory. I kept contacting sellers with great feedback asking if the cards were legitimate only to have confessions of "not really" or "I'm not sure". So I realized it's gotta be a reputable seller for this stuff. That said, the cheapest I could find this card for on ebay is $117.

This card has fast reads and so-so writes so may not be good for all photo enthusiasts.
This is my first post, be gentle Smilie I've enjoyed slickdeals so hoping to give something back.

For the seller
Sorry can you guys tell me where I can get this card for less?
I searched all over and the next cheapest price I could find was $117 on ebay by a shady seller. The real cheap ones on ebay I investigated and every one of the guys either banned me from bidding (I've got perfect feedback for like 15+ years), or responded it was not the real deal. I think you may be thumbs downing the cheapest out there from a legitimate seller but if you can show me where this is cheaper I'll buy there.
There is an epidemic now of FAKES. They clone the housing in China, then hack the controller of a smaller chip like a 4gig card, so that it reports it's 256GB. Unsuspecting buyers bid, win, looks real, they are happy, it reports it's got 256 gb they leave positive feedback, then they only realize later (or they don't) that it just keeps rewriting over the old data.
If you think this price for this sdcard (fast read kinda slow write) is not slick, please show me the links.

My apologies if it wasn't a good deal. Just trying to contribute.

Actually not a bad deal. Just not a good one either. Seems the going price right now. You have good points though. If I can beat this I'll hit you back. Anyways you're post is still better than anything I've posted recently...

Heck there is a 32GB transcend card upvoted +19 for $15. Just do the math, this one is $93 for 4x the space. $15x4 = 0

Ok these were the best prices I could find for other fast read cards.

Look Walmart has half this size for $82.57, $10 less than this deal.
Lexar 128GB High performance microSD card $82.57 [walmart.com]
and the next reputable seller on Amazon has a 256gb card for $125 (San disk),
Samsung is $149
Sandisk 200 Gb (not 256) is $98
[amazon.com] $5 more than my deal but less memory.
The 1 other good deal I found that is close to this one is

So how is $10 more than walmart for double the size, and $38 less than the next cheapest card on Amazon not slick?

I don't think you are correct about $93 being the going rate for these high end 256gb cards with fast reads; I think there is a general perception from people that these prices are lower due to the fake floods on Ebay and other markets. I've been searching slickdeals for weeks for a 256gb sdcard deal... now this one is thumbed down since it got thumbed down so quickly so anyone else looking also won't find ...

So not so "slick for the seller"....
Same card half the capacity is $10 cheaper at Walmart." just 128GB.

Whoa! I never thumbed it down. But the issue isn't that your arguments are wrong. You are definitely right. Only thing is for the particular product it is that price at a few different sellers. Sometimes people thumb down because of bad experience with same brand previously.

I'll still keep an eye out though. Either way I think you're right in that if you need it now it's probably the best choice
