Great price, just remember that if you want to headset as well, Samsung has the controller + headset for $40 [samsung.com] ($37 with EDU discount).
Not anymore.. and the bonus oculus content "probably" wouldnt have applied for that bundle..

The SD thread is still up, but you're right, the controller isn't added to cart anymore. The bonus Oculus games/apps were included though.

Yeah that bundle was a good deal. But i dropped it with zero confidence on being able to redeem the bonus Oculus games.. redemption requires a receipt, and that bundle would have shown a $0 controller bonus receipt.

Anyways, this is a good price for a 3dof bluetooth android controller for the older 2016 gear vr owners. 2016 gear vr (new) is also available on ebay for under $20 mostly.

For anyone considering the Galaxy Note 8 -- keep in mind that the HEADSETS from 2017/2016 won't work. You need to buy the latest headset, which Samsung is coming out with (due to the phones extra length).

It'll be backwards compatible.

Are they coming out with new controllers too?

So the 2017 model fits the S8+, but not the Note 8?

I don't see why using this at night makes a difference. Probably better to use at night so there's no potential light leaking into the headset.

Unfortunately, yes -- that's why i posted the warning, even though this thread wasn't about the VR glasses themselves -- a lot of people don't know that Samsung is coming out with a NEW version for the Note 8 (which will be backwards compatible with other phones).

Frankly, its ridiculous that they need to release 2 pairs of glasses within 1 year, but I guess they probably hadn't finalized the dimensions of the Note 8 when the 2017 glasses were approved for production.

Keep in mind, the original 2017 glasses were meant to be able to be used with the Note 7. laugh out loud
