American Airlines has matched United's Basic Economy airfare traveling to and from San Francisco (SFO) and Dallas (DFW) for $78, nonstop, round trip. United still has fares available for this price, however, on United it is a basic economy fare. American would be the choice.

Travel availability:

Departs SFO: Oct 4, 17, 28, 31; Nov 1, 4
Returns: Oct 11, 17, 24-25; Nov 1, 4, 7-8

Departs DFW: Oct 17, 24-25; Nov 1, 4,
Returns: Oct 24, 28, 31; Nov 1, 4, 7-8

Use dates and plug it into Priceline [priceline.com]. Priceline will bring up both United & American so you can choose which flights you'd like. Bundling hotel with your airfare will save you money.

Basic economy = no (free) carryon bags

Honestly, Dallas is a phenomenal city to live and is why people are flocking here in droves especially Frisco where I'm at, but it's definitely not a tourist city. Depending on what you're in to, there's a few things, the Perot museum is pretty well received, Dallas Arboretum & Botanical Garden, Morton Myerson Symphony Center, Winspear Opera House, or what we're truly known for, the eats. The food alone will make you never want to leave.
