if purchased through livingsocial, does the standard Bose warranty still apply?

Pretty slick deal, going to see if it's possible to price match with a retailer that doesn't charge sales tax.

Where do you live that tax is 20%? Or, where can you get 20% and no tax?

I'm in the market for higher end noise cancelling headphones for a trip to Europe and to also use in my new office which is going to be an awful open floor plan with short cubicles. From what I have read the Bose are more comfortable with the Sony 1000x having better sound quality and more features. A new version of the Sony is coming out this month as well but will probably be close to retail while the Bose and current Sony are discounted here and on ebay Tough decision without being able to audition them.

Get Bose. I have both Bose and the Sony and I prefer the QC35s. They are both fantastic headphones when it comes to noise cancelling imo, but I travel a lot and I use my Bose due to being comfortable. Sony ones hurt my ears when I use them for a long trip.

How are they for phone calls? Mainly concerned about how the voice sounds to the caller.

I also want to be able to quickly adjust them to turn the music down to hear the environment if someone needs to talk to me at work. Can the Bose do this really quickly and easily without fiddling with the controls?

Exactly, I have Sony right now for a few days and I'm going to return it. I ordered this already

Go with the wired QC25s if you plan to use them daily with a computer - they're cheaper and you won't have to worry about the non-replacable battery on the 35s.

How about QC15's? I heard that the thin wires on the QC25's easily break when folding the headphones.

The QC15s don't fold flat so they'll take up more space but that shouldn't be a problem if you're using them at home/work. For travelers every inch counts and i'd recommend the 25s or 35s or even the in-ear series. As for the cables - I believe they're a proprietary bose connector on one end, but I think there are plenty of generics out there if the original get damaged/lost (you can still use the noise cancelling without the cable on the 15 and 25).

I own both 1000x and QC35 so here are my 2cents: If you need one right now get this one.
The new version of Bose QC35s has also leaked. However IMO both new version of Sony and Bose are minor improvements such as better battery and add features to the app.
The Sony can play much higher Hi-Res audio format. Also, if you are mainly using them for NC features you might not care much about these.
Bose accidentally reveals their new headphones. [theverge.com](The verge)

I have the exact problem. It got hurts after 30min, Sony is much bulkier and heavier. I have no problem with Bose all day long
