NHL has opened their yearly subscriptions to NHL.TV Gamecenter for $139.96; if you can verify a Military or Student ID through TroopID or StudentID, there's a 35% discount making the final total $90.97. For me, the Discover Card 10% off did not apply together with the 35% discount (not stackable).

If you want a single team subscription, it would be about $111.96-39.18=$72.78.

If you choose monthly at $24.99/month, the discount only applies to the first month.

Of course, specific & local game blackouts apply.

Edit: Thanks to honorarytitle for suggesting using a VPN to connect outside of US to get international pricing (Europe only??) at $119.99-35%=$77.99; once connected via VPN, go here:

It looks like the IP address trick is working as well. I changed my IP to a Romanian IP and now it is showing at 119.99 (all teams) to start, logged in with troopID and it is 77.99 compared to 90.97 for the US IP address.

I would update this post to show the non market international IP addresses giving additional discounts. I used PIA VPN to change to Romania. I am going to check a couple more and than make my purchase. This is a good price if you meet the YMMV requirements.

Okay I confirmed a couple more. Looks like they are all pretty much using the same starting price of 119.99 for non US/non major intl market. Once you change your IP address over, just go to this direct site for pricing: https://subscribe.nhl.com/international . I already tried it on a US IP and it just flips it back to the US site. However, if you have a VPN or if HOLA still works, just go straight to that site to get the international discount at least.

I felt this was a solid price so I tried to subscribe. Looks like they made it a little more difficult this year. When you enter the billing address, US is not an available choice for country(which makes sense ha-ha). However, I chose United States Minor Islands and then paid directly through PAYPAL. I can confirm, that it went through and I now show an active subscription. Total price $77.99, so it works.

I can confirm the pricing is available for France, Romania, and India to name a few. Also, to add to the info because it comes up every year, blackouts are easily avoided for all games. It's annoying, but all you have to do is flip to a non-us country (i always use france) and then connect to the game. Once you are watching it, just flip the VPN off or back to the US if you always leave your VPN on.

VPN for blacked out games (local team) works only on pcs. Not on iPads or Apple TV.

Any idea how to get student pricing without student id?

Glad you got it to work. For others, I chose the US Minor Islands. I turned my VPN off after I got the price and moved to the PayPal site.

Not sure on iPhones how to get around it, but I agree it's a pain since they base off of location

i have a separate router configured for the vpn and any device works as long as it's using that router. I watched on my ipad and my daughter watches on her laptop or tv via apple.

set up for blackout games, and bonus being able to use any device to watch.

fyi.

Apple ipad uses geo location that is different than vpn and router settings and local team can not be watched no matter what.

Did you watch nationally televised games (like NBCsport) or specifically your local team games on an Ipad?

I don't remember if i tried it or not, but could you turn off location and use the website as opposed to the app? Maybe then you could work around the geo-location issue. NHL seriously needs to rethink their blackout policies. It is really annoying and for the small fan base they have, they should be doing everything to get them to watch more.

I have a spare router sitting around so interested in this. Which VPN do you use and was setting up the router easy enough to do with enough google searching?

If I purchase a subscription through hola in order to get the international rate, will I be able to watch games without using a VPN?
