I have this controller at home and I feel it's really useful. I can control my irrigation system by my phone; plus it can sync by itself, so it knows when to pure water and when not to. This is an awesome deal, I got one with much higher price earlier... so pity that I don't need two in my house...

I have a 15 year old model that still works great....wifi for this is ridiculous. Suprised it doesn't stream music and Netflix...Wink
My water bill has gone down by half since I installed one of these. Plus I'm cutting the grass less frequently. I use smart watering that monitors stuff like rain and future rain. My lawn is still green.

Some of us like to live in the 21st century. You should join us. Guaranteed this model uses way less water than your ancient one. Pays for itself in no time. Of all the smart devices that have come out, this is definitely not the one to think is ridiculous. You're way off on that assessment.

And some people miss the sarcasm in online posts. There was a winky face at the end of it indicating sarcasm.

Rolleyes2 Okay, bubs, if you say so. One can actually interpret that emoticon and every emoticon differently, just like in every situation, but it must be how you interpret it. Thumbup

Thinking about buying this for my father in-law. How difficult is this to install when replacing an old system? Will any new wiring be required?

Really easy. Here's the install video to see what it entails. https://support.rainmachine.com/h...tup-video-

Got this a few weeks ago from Newegg when it was on sale. Took only about 20 minutes to install and has been fantastic to use so far.

Love mine too. Not only do I used it to water my grass, but I hooked up sprinkler valves to my hose bibs and now can smartly water all my containers and garden as well.

Easy. Just open the old controller and take a picture of all the wires so you know what is what. The zone wires are easy. You need to know which wires are the common wires, and which wires are for a rain sensor (if he has one).

The only other consideration is if the old controller covers a big hole in the wall, where the wires come in to it, this rain machine is really small and probably won't cover the entirety of the hole. I ended up mounting mine onto a square piece of plywood and then mounted the plywood onto the wall.

I bought this a couple weeks ago on Amazon for $149 (bummer). Replaced my 1960's one. With a water company rebate (mine was $100), it's silly not to get one.
