Good deal since 5w-40 is so hard to find in the US so it's overpriced but I really hate buying oil in gallons. Always end up with odd amounts leftover for my 1.8t vw

Normally would be all over this but word has it T6 changed formula and no longer is as good as it use to be for Turbo gas engines.

Do you have a source for that? First I'm hearing of it.

Great price for fully synthetic oil. I use it in my motorcycles, lawnmower and snowblower. No complaints.

Seems like the terms are somewhat vague.

"Qualifying products include: Shell ROTELLA® T5 Synthetic Blend Technology, Shell ROTELLA® T5 Ultra 10W-30 Synthetic Blend Technology, Shell ROTELLA® T6 Full Synthetic, or Shell ROTELLA® T6 Multi Vehicle 5W-30 Full Synthetic
heavy duty diesel engine oil 1 gallon bottle, Shell ROTELLA® T5 Synthetic Blend Technology or Shell ROTELLA® T6 Full Synthetic heavy duty diesel engine oil 2.5 gallon bottle, AND/OR Shell ROTELLA® T6 Full Synthetic heavy duty diesel
engine oil 5 gallon pail. Offer ends December 31, 2017. Offer valid at participating retailers only. Requests must be postmarked by January 15, 2018 and received by January 31, 2018. Limit 4 rebates per person, household or
address (e-mail and physical) for a total maximum rebate possible of $100. Mixing qualifying products purchased is authorized. Purchases by an installer for use in its business do not qualify for this offer. Bulk submissions or bundled
submissions by retailer or any other entity, on behalf of consumers, are not permitted. Rebate will expire 60 days from issue date. Other restrictions apply. SOPUS Products reserves the right to cancel, rescind, modify or extend this offer
at its sole discretion. See full terms and conditions and a list of participating retailers at www.rotella.com/rebate".

Every version of oil lists the specific viscosity of 5w-30 except T6 which I need in a 5w-40. Thinking I'd be OK but still concerned.

Also buying it in a 3 pack? Seems like a gotcha area as well.

Any thoughts?

When this popped up as an alert on my phone I initially thought it said Nutella by the gallon which would've been amazing. Sadly, this oil is less relevant to me. Good luck fellow SDers

Shouldn't be an issue. It says Rotella T6 and there is no other version than 5w-40 of this oil.

Is Amazon a "participating retailers" and legit for getting rebates?

Unfortunately they did in fact change it.

Quick Google search on nasoic or bobistheoilguy will talk about it. Happened this year.

It is in fact not as good apparently as well. So my big turbo GTI will not be getting it anymore. Pretty bummed.

Also used to use this in all my old motorcycles. Not sure if I will be doing that or not.

Link for the lazy. [nasioc.com]

Well shoot, that stinks. I'm very glad I have about 10 gallons of the old stuff on the shelf, though. That should last me long enough to see what the next best oil will be for my cars & bikes. Thanks!

Here is another link [nasioc.com] people saying it's ok to use.

So who is right?

Are you talking about the API SN dual rating? Or the switch from CJ-4 to CK-4? It matters which one you are talking about because you may be wrong.
