How does that mean what you think it means?

In for one to return.... I say to return because these guys look like the boast Bluetooth connectivity in their advertisement material (see the video on the Amazon product page and here: http://www.chefmansousvide.com/buy-now/ ) but now it seems that this model does not have it. I'll check it out first but if it doesn't I'll be returning it and give a nice review about their deceptive practices.

Umm..... The 1000 watt motor is what controls the heating element and the fan, a higher power unit means faster heating time to reach optimal temperature and better circulation.

If I'm not mistaken the wattage wouldn't refer to a "motor" but the heating element. If it were for the water circulator that would be like a raging river in your container lol.

Seems odd all reviews are less than 90 days old on amazon.

Chefman is a small importer whose business model is looking at successful name-brand electronics and commissioning and importing knockoffs from China for less money. This is sold by the importer, so while they may have no idea what specs they commissioned, it is also not like they are selling stuff that fell off the back of a truck.

As a sous vide enthusiast, I have been tracking this since it became available on Amazon. It appears to be a good deal, if it is a decent Anova knockoff with a more powerful heating element for 50-70% less. However, it is not a flash sale - the item was introduced on Amazon for $60 in July. The price was then raised intermittently for a few weeks, and was recently $90, per Camelcamelcamel. But when a product is sold for the same price about half of its available life, I don't think that is a deal.

Unrelated, but the makers Sous Vide Supreme have kickstarted their new model. Can be had on IndieGoGo here:

It does not state this model has wifi nor bluetooth. They probably have different versions. The Q/A also says no wifi or bluetooth. Good luck getting a refund on a feature that was never advertised.

I currently own two Anova's -- I have the original one with the color touchscreen as well as a bluetooth/wifi one (purchased for work). I personally trust Anova, as their main business is in industrial scientific equipment -- only in the past few years did they venture into the consumer goods market. I think with that background, they would have a much better supplier and production relationships, as well as more in-depth knowledge on what is necessary to have a reliable and long-lasting product.

I can't claim to be an expert because I have only ever done "ghetto" sous vide, or used my Anova. But my main challenge with the Anova has been that it takes a really long time to get the water up to temp. I believe the one I have is 800 watts, and I assume that a more powerful one will get the water hotter faster. So in that sense the Joule might be worth it for a couple extra dollars.

Like I said, check the video and check their website. It's *very* deceptive. There is only one model to date. Q/A is user generated content and there is no answer from a company rep.
