On the fence and not sure I should bite these or Bose QuietComfort 35. I mostly listen to pop/country music.
Thanks.

Well, I am $323 poorer now. I have been super close to getting the Bose qc35's for a couple of weeks now, but just couldn't bring myself to pull the trigger. After reading the specs on the M2's, and looking at some reviews, I decided to make the jump. I hope these don't have the same hinge problem that the previous version did. It is risky to purchase without listening first, but I guess if they suck, I can try to sell them.

If you buy these don't expect them to be useful when making calls. The microphone pics up ALL of the ambient noise so they're useless when calling. I have to raise my voice when using them to call while driving.

Because you have a pair of this new version that is only available for order on pre-release?

Yes. I'll post what I said on Reddit a few days ago:

In case anyone is wondering most notable differences MDR-1000X VS WH-1000XM2 I found are:

-WH-1000XM2 added AptX HD. Only format now missing is AptX Low Latency

-WH-1000XM2 30 hours vs MDR-1000X 20 Hours battery life.

-WH-1000XM2 hopefully fixed the headband cracking issue but I noticed some forums say black is now a little more like gunmetal grayish. (Source: https://www.whathifi.com/sony/wh-1000xm2/review)

-WH-1000XM2 has official Sony Headphones Connect App for more Equalizer and personalization of noise cancellation and Ambience levels. (Ignore the bad reviews as obviously everyone with Sony headphones wants app support but only a few models will get it, and I highly doubt the MDR-1000X will get it later).

-WH-1000XM2 also added Atmospheric Pressure Optimizing.

Have you heard of sarcasm? bulb
Of course, I'm sarcastic all the time but remember sarcasm doesn't carry over very well with just text and in this case the headphones are similar enough that people may very well think they are identical.
Most websites including RazorDogAudio are actually using an almost identical picture to the MDR-1000X in the WX-1000XM2 listing. Only difference that's visible is instead of black headband it's the tiniest bit more gray, really only visible if you look for it. I like Amazon's preorder pictures that actually shows model number on the right side. Heck even Google's search by image can't distinguish the difference.

See attachments to see what I mean.

Thanks for the photos. They are both very similar, but you can definitely see the difference in the two models. They seem to have changed the headband just a bit, and probably fixed the hinge issue in the process (hopefully anyhow).
