Crappy lenses
This is at best unkind, and IMO, misleading and just plain wrong. Generally the consensus on each of these included lenses is that they're good but not as good as the more expensive options in the lineup, which isn't suprprising given the pricing. They're the entry-level in the Fujifilm lineup, light and not as stoutly built as the heavier hitters, but do the job for not a lot of coin (relatively speaking). Adequate for the task, and an inexpensive way to enter the Fujifilm ecosystem.

Well I you need the long lens then this might be ok but yes, those are less than great lenses. The better deal if you don't need a long lens is the body/18-55mm combo for $1199. That lens alone sells for $699

You can get 18-55 on Ebay for $350, but of course you are not getting from authorized sellers. If you talk about full price, both of these lens are selling for $399 each, and the hand grip is $120 i believe. I returned my X-T1 and ordered X-T20 with 18-55mm but cancelled after seeing this deal. I'm thinking I can sell both lens and get 18-55mm from Ebay. I get to keep Hand grip for free. not sure if it worths the hassle. What I don't get it is that Adorama does not list hand grip in the bundle, but it shows same picture anyway. If you check BHphoto, they are selling similar bundle with hand grip for $1500. Oh and I'm surprised Bestbuy list it as in stock. I'm going to go to store and pick up one if it comes with hand grip.

You people really don't seem to understand that even an entry-level Fujifilm lens is still a good lens, it's just not a bowl-you-over, utterly FANTASTIC lens. For people on something of a budget these lenses are good, and for the 50-230, something that's favorably reviewed by more than one outlet as a fine alternative to the four-figure lenses in the Fuji lineup. The 16-50 only suffers by comparison to the superior 18-55, which is roundly considered to be one of the best "kit lens" zooms ever offered... being second-best to, well, the BEST is not a bad place to be. This lens hate is wholly unwarranted.

Now for those who want an X-T20 but don't actually want or need the reach of the long lens you're probably better off with the kit including the 18-55 as "Abouna" suggests above, but that doesn't make either lens in this offer "@#$%" or "%$#@". This is a good budget choice for people who don't want to sink another several hundred dollars into a zoom at a later time, even if it won't extract 100% of the body's potential.

All places that carry this kit are selling it at this price, happenstance when I went to the local BB to buy it amazon had the same one on sale for 1167. Got them to price match.

Honestly the 15-50 is quite a bit better than the kit lens on the sonys, like significantly so, Not crazy crisp but way sharper than that thing. OIS and AF speed was also way better than I expected. It's not the 18-55 ( which by the definition we all use kit lens to mean ISNT a kit lens, it's more of a bundle imo )
but oh my is it nice.

The 50-230 on the other hand suprised the hell out of me. Shot handheld today at the lake with it and the AF+OIS was pure magic for a lens at it's retail price, let alone at the basically free it becomes in this dual lens kit at this price. It takes amazing shots - it's only let down is the f stop - It's not going to do as well at night, but for daylight wildlife and sports definitely still a great lens.

Not misleading or plain wrong at all. The X-T20 with the 18-55 for $1099 is a better value for sure. Nothing slick about this bundle.

It's decent, if one doesn't mind the hassle of selling the lenses on eBay... Probably could net $400-450, putting the cost for the body plus grip around 750-800. Body is on sale now for 800 by itself.

I'm just too lazy to go through the hassle for $50 difference plus a free grip. Smilie

At the time of the posts on this deal the kit with the 18-55 wasn't $1099. And while the 18-55 is a better lens it doesn't have anywhere near the reach of the two lenses in this kit, if that's important to the buyer. If not, and the plan is to sell one or more of the lenses to get an 18-55 anyway, then the 18-55 kit is clearly a better deal... but of course if you'd read a few posts down from this one you're responding to I already made that point well over a month ago. And your saying that the included lenses in this kit are "crappy" is just as wrong now as it was then.

To be fair, it wasn't me that said they were "crappy."

Correct you are, I too am guilty of not following the thread closely enough. Smilie
