The only way that comment make any sense is if he's talking about physical dimensions. Consider 1440p on a 32" monitor is mediocre from a pixel density standpoint, I'd much rather have the UW.

32"at 1440p is a PPI of just 91.79 which is pretty mediocre. 34" UW at 1440p is a PPI of 109.68 which looks much nicer. Yes you get less physical screen but I'd much rather the sharper screen with more usable area.

Great price! Also, Samsung extended warranty for this monitor to 3 years recently.

I'm always weary of buying from buydig because they don't pay for returns if there are deal pixels etc...

Anyways, I'm always ready to pull the trigger on one of these but I keep thinking about whether theres a good 4k monitor for the same price? Can anyone chime in?

It really depend on what you are looking for (spec wise) on the monitor. This monitor (which I do own) is great for games and color accuracy. You will be hard press to find 3440x1440p with 100hz for less than $700 shipped. This is VA panel, if you prefer IPS panel, look elsewhere.

As for stuck pixel/dead pixel, it's like a lottery, ALL MFG QC is never 100%, so it's down to the seller you deal with for returns.

For productivity and photo editing purposes, would this be better or Dell's U3417W? Any suggestions?

If you're doing 'serious' photo editing the Dell is better - you'll want to go IPS for color accuracy. The VA panel on the Samsung provides richer colors and more contrast, but not strictly accurate.

I've used both and own the Samsung, I like it better - it pops more and feels more immersive due to the higher curvature.

If you're not hardcore about photo editing can't go wrong with either. Just keep in mind the Samsung will require a bit of calibration out of the box

This is also freesync I believe, and wasn't this the monitor you could get $200 off with one of the air cooled vega bundles?

Ahh so tempting! Though thinking I might wait for 144+ hz. I tried the Asus PG279Q and the 165hz refresh rate was awesome. But the IPS color was not as accurate as my old 60 hz one and there was some noticeable glow. I think the screen size on this Samsung would be so awesome.

Thank you, ceidon! This is helpful. Neither a serious photo editor nor a gamer, so will go ahead with this for best overall experience.

You might want to check this review, they are comparing it with U3417W. https://www.digitaltrends.com/mon...91-review/

It is a FreeSync monitor. I can't use it since I do not have Radeon card, but works great with NVIDIA 1080TI set to 100hz, with either V-Sync on or off. AND No you cannot get this price with VEGA bundle. As VEGA bundle price is an all inclusive and cannot be purchase separately. Buying this at $680 is actually way cheaper than buying it with a bundle.

I would definitely try them both in a store if you can but I got this for 750$ and love it
