Probably obvious, but this is a pure ABC watch, no GPS. It might be ok for people off the grid, but for most hikers, a GPS enabled watch is preferable. Also, not solar like Casio ProTreks

Meh can be found cheaper elsewhere and definitely prefer solar charged watches such as protreks

I have had this watch since it first came out. It was $300+ or so and at that time there was the microsoft cash back program running for ebay at some high amount I forgot like 30% or so and I bought it with that. There were no discounts for awhile when it came out. The first batches were not so good. These were made in china, I did not know that until I got it, the watch forums didnt even comment on this aspect, and everyone assumed it was from Finland as well like all their previous watches. I decided to keep it anyway as it looked really cool and i would have had to pay a high restocking fee.

They were broken very easily, from slight knocks to low drops. Mine died after a fall from the height of a bathroom sink onto a marble floor. Lost button functionality. It was under warranty, but they did not pay for shipping to, or back, even though lots of people started having problems with the watch, I paid something like $30+ in shipping and it took over a month.

The watch I got back has lasted though. I dont wear it every day, only when out hiking or camping, but its held up. Some other things to consider, the small band holder breaks on everyone's watch. They do not let you buy it separately, you must buy the whole OEM watch strap if you want to replace it. I have resorted to just small black rubber bands. The watch strap will cut and rip if you are harsh on your watches, it is not tough. It is a large watch, you should have the wrist for it, or it may be uncomfortable. When changing the battery they recommend you change the O ring seal, I skirted that a few times, and one time I had it leak on me when I was swimming in a waterfall. I saw the screen slowly fill with water and die. Miraculously when I dried it out with the back open it came back to life after a battery swap. Had it been salt water it would surely have been toast. The OEM battery and O ring are really expensive for what it is. Buy a good quality watch battery yourself, and get a set of O rings from ebay that are high quality and it will pay for itself in one change, dont forget the silicone grease for the O rings. There are adapter kits that allow you to put on watch lugs, which will allow you to install whatever strap you would like onto it. If you do get them, be sure to use loctite as the screws in everyone of these kits work loose. there is a secret menu that you can access to adjust the screen contrast as well as a few other things, I forget the combo but its online in the watch forums. Its better off to disable storm warning and the altimeter tracking if not using it as it drains batteries. You will also need to calibrate the watch's reference altitude for the place where you are, or will be for it to be accurate.

This is not a bad price considering the original price, but there are better and tougher models out now since this watch has been released. I would opt for a GPS watch nowadays that can sync with your phone, that's the best method to keep track of all your info on hikes and such. But if you just like the look and dont care how tough it is, or about other functions this is a very good looking watch and I have had many compliments on it.
