An explanation of why would be helpful. Cryptic messages like that have little value.

$17.5/tb.... Nice!
I know there's going to be a huge amount of anecdotal posts in here about 'I had 3 drives fail' or 'I've never had X brand fail' but Seagate's reputation is tarnished for a reason. Most generations of their drives are perfectly fine and have similar failure rates to other brands, but they had a number of generations over the last 5-10 years with considerably higher failure rates than their competitors as well as some driver/firmware issues, even if it was still a very small % that failed.

I have Seagate, WD, and Samsung drives so I'm not saying Seagate is some awful company, just that their track record hasn't been quite as clean as brands like WD and Samsung. Samsung's HDD business was bought out by Seagate however which is a good thing.

Negative. Never enough data or controlled enough environment to backup any drive failure claims. Go with best TB per $1 + warranty and personal experience in your particular device/environment. Never pay more for storage than you have to at todays prices, so cheap, just get redundancy and backups to mitigate any outages or loss and your set

Then youre what they call "a sucker"
You will never know when a batch of drives are bad from any manufacturer and you could easily get burned paying more for a brand or model. Just be smart, trust no one at any price, setup backups and redundancy. More drives trump less "better" more expensive drives all day erry day storage is sooooo cheAp

Why is it "portable" when you have to plug it in to the wall?
