If not sensitive to rainbow effect, how does this compare to epson home cinema 2040/2045 series LCD?

As a budget intro 1080p projector, I love this thing. I went for the same frys deal a while ago for a little more at $429.

It does get pretty hot and fan turns on as I don't have much airflow. I think the fan would be on for any projector in my situation. Other than that this thing is super fun. Way better than the 480p projector I got for $70.

I use it in a room that doesn't get too much light. I project on an off white wall and it looks just fine. I sit 3-5 feet away sometimes and it looks great at 1080p. I also paired this with a little JBL speaker which works pretty well...just need a long stereo cable for positioning.

I have had it for couple months. I highly recommend it if you have some wall space. Try it out Smilie.

My buddy has the BenQ. It's gorgeous but there is a ton of black crush in dark scenes

Anyone have a recommendation between this and the BenQ MH530FHD? I bought that already and am debating between that one and this one. The HT1070 would be cheaper by $50. I am planning to use it outdoors at night only.

Looks like BenQ MH530FHD is new and it has 3 year warranty compared to HT1070. Also where did you find BenQ MH530FHD for 449.00. It is showing up as 550.00 at most of the stores. I got interested in BenQ MH530FHD after your post and it seem a good option too.

BenQ MH530FHD seems to have 3 year warranty when you buy from an authorized dealer. It seems to be newer than HT1070.

The MH530FHD was on sale at fry's last Friday with a similar promo code offer. I just double checked and it was $460. Fry's seem to have various projectors on sale each week. Just having a hard time picking one. The difference between the two appear to be the 1070 has color wheel, lower lumens, backlit remote, built in speaker, MHL hdmi. The warranty on the 530 does help, but I figured buying with an AMEX will extend my warranty on the 1070 by another year also, so not too big a deal. I may just try them both out and see.

Be Careful Folks with the Rainbow Effect. Projectors that use a color wheel like this one can cause the rainbow effect in many folks. They see "rainbows" at the edge of images during motion or movement. Even if you aren't sensitive to it - some of your guests will be and it makes things unwatchable for them. I have owned both types and I recommend Epson projectors for that one reason alone..

And all 5 are probably customer returns, abused and with missing parts, where ever they are in the store.

If guests are going to complain they can hit the road.
