AT&T Apple iPhone 8 or 8+ Buy One Get One (Live 9/15) Required: DirectTV Subscription

"The buy-one-get-one-free promotion starts Friday and applies to the iPhone 8 and 8 Plus, among other phones. AT&T hasn't said whether the deal will be extended to Apple Inc.'s most expensive phone ever -- the $999 iPhone X, aka 10 -- which marks a decade since the company entered the phone business."

Details are pretty slim (hence being posted in DT) but likely will require 2 year agreement and/ or new activation.

Update: "After vowing to avoid a repeat of the blistering iPhone price war of last year, AT&T Inc. will fire the first shot -- offering a free iPhone with the purchase of another, for customers who also subscribe to its DirecTV satellite service." + sign up for a new line.

Quick question about bogo offers.

I know they try to keep you in a "contract" by spreading the monthly credits over 24 month. I'm fine with that. But can I "add a line". And than convert it to an ipad lte line? And still get the monthly credits. Afterall it's still the same "number". Since iPad line has a phone number associated with it.

I have att unlimited data plus plan so it's $20 a device/line anyways. The money is the same. When I switched from my cell phone number to the ipad. They kept the same cell phone number for the ipad.

Why is this marked as expired when I search for it?

Also, if this truly requires ONLY DirecTV service to take advantage of the deal, that is really stupid. I have U-Verse TV and Internet service and am looking to get 2 new iPhone 8's so I better be eligible for this.

I purposely put it in deal talk instead of hot deals since there are not many details known. If/ when they do come out with details, I will updated the OP and ask a mod to move it to hot deals (assuming after the requirements come out it is still a "hot deal").

AT&T's current BOGO offers require one of the lines to be brand new, plus you have to have DirectTv. I'm sure the iphone 8 BOGO offer will be identical.

looks like the Bloomberg article was updated to include that Directv is a requirement.

"...offering a free iPhone with the purchase of another, for customers who also subscribe to its DirecTV satellite service."

Right, plus one of the BOGO lines must be new.

So, even if you have DirectTV, the BOGO offer cannot be used if both lines are upgrading.

CAn you convert the new bogo line to a iPad line?

That's what I want to know. I have lte iPad and can cancel my current lte iPad line (att unlimited plus plan)

So I want to bogo. Get new line. Than switch to iPad line. Still pay the $20/month device add on.

I chatted with rep via chat about the Samsung Galaxy S8 BOGO and was told the credit was tied to IMEI. So if switching SIMs do it on the 1st phone which isn't being discounted. If you switch the "free" phone from the 2nd line the credits will stop

There is still absolutely nothing about this deal on AT&T's web site. I talked with 2 reps so far, and nobody had a clue about it.

How do you know which one is the "free" one? They don't start giving you bill credits for 2 to 3 months.
