Well, there are two separate pieces of hardware, but there's really only one DVR - and that's on the Bolt. The Mini just accesses the Bolt's shows from another room. It's actually a pretty awesome setup. I have a Bolt in my living room and a Mini in my bedroom and I get to have cable (and access to my DVR) in another room without a monthly fee.

I already have a bolt and need a mini. This is a great deal to get a cheaper mini, as you can trade in the Bolt for about $120 on Amazon right now. Pair with the $15 bonus BB GC on ebay, and this is a slick deal!

the mini just extends whatever main tivo box you're using (in this case, the bolt, but it could be paired with any tivo box). You can't use a mini without a main tivo box (bolt, roamio, etc)

Any point of this if I only have OTA and no cable?

I'd do this in a heartbeat if the Bolt still included a year of service. I have a Bolt in the closet gathering dust after the included year was up, having moved back to a Premiere 4 with lifetime (along with 2 Minis). I do, however, miss the commercial indexing and faster UI.

If you do the math, depending on your cable provider and how ridiculous their charges are (for HD DVR rental), it'll pay for itself in about 1.5 years.

"All-in" = lifetime (of that specific box)

Good deal if you need both. Mini is perfect for bedrooms or other areas where you don't watch as much TV.

They make it sound like it includes a year of service, although I don't know what qualifies as a "new" Bolt model, unless they just mean non-refurb.

Regarding all new models of the TiVo BOLT or the TiVo Roamio Pro:
  • For purchases on tivo.com, and unless you specify otherwise (pursuant to the next sentence), your initial service subscription will be a Year-Included Plan, which subsequently will roll over automatically into successive annual service plans at the then-published rate (currently $149.99/year, plus any applicable taxes).1 Via tivo.com or TiVo Customer Service (877-367-8486), you instead may select a monthly service plan, at the current rate of $14.99/month (plus any applicable taxes) with a one (1)-year commitment and a $75 early termination fee2.
  • For purchases through any other retail sales channel, your initial service subscription will be a Year-Included Plan, which subsequently will roll over automatically into successive annual service plans at the then-published rate (currently $149.99/year, plus any applicable taxes).1 Upon activation, you will have the option of upgrading your service subscription to an All-In Plan, for a one (1)-time payment at the then-published All-In Plan upgrade rate (which currently is $549.99, plus any applicable taxes)4.
