This thing is very divisive among audio folks. I happen to think it's a great piece of kit, a no-brainer at this price. There are some legit QC problems with them though, which is why you see all these refurbs.

It looks great, is built quite well, and will push efficient speakers (any Klipsch for example) VERY loud. Yes, you can do better with a SMSL amp off Amazon for the money, but those look like black hunks of metal and this looks cool.

Replace the small tubes with these, it does make a real difference:

Would this be good for Micca MB42x speakers?

It would be fine at normal listening levels, but those are pretty inefficient speakers (-85db). You'd probably be better off with a 50-60W SMSL amp from Amazon.

I might just end up selling the Mb42x and my other amp and get speakers for these instead. I like the idea of having Bluetooth connectivity and a internal psu. I hate power bricks. Any chance you could recommend a decent pair of bookshelf speakers that won't break the bank.

The specs claim it, but does this thing really have aptX? How is the Bluetooth functionality/quality?

A sound out connection from the TV to a small amp like this would make a very simple tv setup.

Mine is similar, I have 2 bookshelf speakers that play all of the audio from my TV to an amp like this. This would be perfect to replace because it's smaller and has Bluetooth.

So for me, I change the input on my TV only. All the sound output goes into something like this little amp with just 1 wire instead of several). No need to screw with the receiver/amp inputs for you various devices, or be surprised when HDMI-CEC doesn't work (supposed to "automatically" change inputs).

This also doesn't tie you down to soundbar speakers which can't be repositioned.

Yes, you can buy a receiver that essentially does the same thing in a more complicated way, but you'll wonder why your Roku seems to always work when it's the size of hockey puck and the your receiver the size of a microwave constantly let's you down.

Personally I don't like surround sound.
