Excellent device with a great smartphone app. Comes in a certified Garmin box, mine looked brand new. New cost $130 on the Garmin website. Water proof to 5 ATM - but HR monitor hasn't been accurate in the pool. Excellent step counter and HR for running. Also notifies you of phone calls, can view text messages and control music (worked with Pandora)

Nobody pays $130. Amazon has the non-refurbished at $98 right now. Still a TU from me. I really want the HR+ with the built-in GPS. I'll probably buy that one refurbished by the end of the year.

Is the GPS important for people that run outside? I was looking for something that tracks my heart rate and steps. I hated wearing a chest strap on the elliptical, kept slipping. Since it takes the HR from my wrist it works out well for me in the gym for weight lifting

Yes, the GPS is so that you don't have to bring your phone to map your run.
