Is the cleaning station worth $50? The version without it seems to be on sale as well.

No. Just extra hassle and expenses.

I can get the LF51 Arc4 for $90. Is the Arc5 really 65% more shaver, opinions?

When you said "i see $80-90 everywhere" it made people assume you were referring to the Arc5.... you know the entire point of this thread.

Yes cheaper razors exist, but people opening a thread titled "Panasonic ES-LV95-S Arc5 Electric Shaver" clearly are not looking to purchase an Arc3 that you linked. You didn't even bother to link actual competitors for this razor. The Arc5 competes with the Braun Series 9 and Philips 9000.

Yes. Thankfully Panasonic uses sachets that are much cheaper to buy then the cleaning cartridges that Braun use in their cleaning docks. You just mix water and solution together, which is nice because you can use knock off brand cleaners. They run about $2-3 per packet vs $6-8 for the Braun cartridges.

Panny's arc linear motor is the best. I've had Braun and Norelco(which is worthless on thick facial hair). They don't compare.

Have had over a dozen panasonics with linear motor. None broke, just usually upgrade instead of getting new blade/foil (which actually last forever compared to others). Couple tips from my experience:

Imho the base is worthless. They don't clean as well as brushing and then just soap and water. Takes extra space too.

The key Arc is to get a model with the trimmer blades in the middle. Arc3 is my favorite as I often grow facial hair and it's the easiest to maneuver around. Arc4 and Arc5 are amazing shaves but I'd only recommend if you shave completely and don't wear beards.

If you want a cheap Arc to try, keep looking out for the ES8013S. It's a great $150 razor, just an old model and it commonly drops to $40 and below.

I have a Braun series 7 needing a new cutter and a Norelco series 8 that also needs a new cutter unit. I hate paying almost as much for the blades as I did for the entire shaver.

The washer based are not worth the extra money and counter space in my opinion. I've owned a few now and don't see the added value.
