For those who are looking to purchase Tumi luggage/bags, Nordstrom has Tumi luggage, backpacks and other products on sale for 20% to up to 40% off today until September 24th.

Apparently, Amazon has some of the luggage on sale for up to 45% off. A few samples:

ETA: For those who'd like to combine with cash back from those certain cash back sites, Ebags also has Tumi on sale for 20% off across the board. For example, TCB has 16% CB on ebags right now, which effectively makes it 36% across the board. This may be a better option if the item is only 20% off on Nordstrom.

Can anyone confirm this is the premium quality of Tumi or their lesser quality items? Still can't decifer between the two.

People really do pay stupid money for something that can easily be had for a lot less. Ive been using my ricardo spinner case to travel internationally for years now and only paid $50. All black, ball bearing wheels, polycarbonate case, etc.. For $300 and up. These things should book your flights too.

Tumi used to be "buy it for life" type item; not anymore. For that money, you would be much better off buying one of the brands that have a true lifetime warranty like Briggs and Riley.

I like tumi but it breaks a lot and those $25 handling fees add up...

This is premium quality. You can check tumi.com [tumi.com]...they're currently running a 20% off event and all the stores that carry their brands are following suit

Don't forget there's an amex deal for $15 off $75 at ebags. Combined with 16% cb from TCP and I'd consider this a great deal!

On average Tumi's quality is meh, very average. It used to be really good and even had lifetime warranties at one point. If you get the higher end Tumi lines, the quality is still really good, but they are making ALOT of different lines to cater to more people so the lower end lines are pretty average at best compared to a well made quality luggage. It won't be total crap.

Having said that, I've had pull handles on both my carry on 21" and 26" warrantied (free). I need to get it replaced again so I'll update this thread on how that goes. Having said that, I used to travel a lot (work), and I abuse my luggage and it's probably about 10 years old. I have the Tumi T-Tech (or something like that, which is a lower end one).

I think the easiest way to determine quality is the warranty on the specific item will be different. Check the warranty, the higher they offer, the more premium the line.
