Clearance 3/4" brass plumbing fittings at Lowes (comparable to Sharkbite brand) - YMMV

If anyone is need of sharkbite type plumbing fitting, quick connect/disconnect type which can can join many different types of pipe together pex/copper/pvc etc without special tapes/pipe compound/solder, lowes has some of their Blue Hawk line of products available for significant discounts depending on location..

Just a few examples:

Blue Hawk 3/4 Male adapter - $1.47 [lowes.com]

Blue Hawk 3/4 Female adapter - $1.57 [lowes.com]

These are normally $5-7 each.

As this is a Lowes B&M deal, YMMV, but if you find a store with a large stock, your chances are good that you will be able to get in on the deal for free in store pickup.

These have been used in Europe and Australia for over 30 years and can be used as semi permenent fitting (30 years +) with a breaking pressure of over 800psi. A major advantage to using these fittings, they can be used even when unable to complete turn off the water, such as when you have an older water shutoff and can't shut off the water at the street. In scenerios like this, you will not be able to solder a copper connection even when using high temp gas like MAP and may be required to wait for your utility to show up to turn off your water, which could cause significant issues with water damage. These can also be easily remove from a pipe and re-fitted many times without damage to the pipe or the fitting.

Used 80922 for prices, but your zip code may change the price drastically, as other stores in town are near normal price.

Online for my local store is showing as 49% to 50% off of these with prices from $0.67 and up. Less than a half dozen of any item, though.

These are 60 cents in my neighborhood. Contrary to OP's post, stores with the largest inventory don't necessarily have the lowest price. There inventory is larger because they are at full price.

I actually said stores with large inventories have a better chance of being able to actually pick up the item. IE: don't expect to pickup 2 from a store that only shows 2 in stock.

Why does the male and female look the same. Would this be used for a garden hose like application?

I used these to make a repair without having to tear into the wall. They seem to use an O-ring to make the seal and have metal teeth that bite onto the pipe to keep it from sliding off.

It would be nice for people who brag about being able to get it cheaper in their neighborhood to list the #### store it's at, otherwise it's just an internet rumor.
