Good sub, but not a great price. I'd go for $160-175. Has been in that range at least three times so far this year.

I got the R-12SWi a week ago. Should I trade it in for this or keep it? Comments, opinions?

If you like what you are hearing, you can keep it, but this sub plays deeper. Surprised this thread isn't getting more love as I haven't seen this sub on sale for while. I just thought they stopped making them.

Officially this sub has been discontinued for years.

yet somehow they keep selling new ones.

Specs are significantly better than the R-12 (but not the R-112, which is the real replacement for it- and Frys puts that on sale for $299 with a free wifi kit you can resell for 50-75 back pretty often if you care to wait for it)

That said- the BASH amp this comes with isn't the most reliable long term, so I suggest folks buy with a Citi credit card to slap an extra 24 months of warranty on it

Those of you who already posted sound like you know the quality of Klipsch, so what I'm about to write is prob'ly preaching to the choir. That being said....I bought a KSW-150 sub w/150W amp) nearly 20 yrs ago and is still going strong and still has great base (tho, have to admit I have never tried to run it at, or near, full volume. Plenty of tight boom for the buck.

The only problems I had were ~5-7 yrs. ago. Both were due to cracked/cold solder connections (has the same problems on a Sony receiver). First was on the P/S filter caps (suspect I may need to replace those sometime in the near future). The other was a kind of rattling or buzzing noise I thought might have been the speaker voice coil. Checked the speaker and it was still firm, yet flexible and no rubbing sounds. Applying a bit of my soldering skills easily solved both problems. Before and since then, the speaker has worked flawlessly.

So, if you're thinking about Klipsch but are unsure, I am a believer in quality!! Oh, and I paid over double the price of the OP listing for my speaker (when subs were just starting to come into their own). Never regretted my choice of the sub. BTW - I have it working in a system with a pair of KG2.2 bookshelf spkrs. Really nice sound!!!

Cheers...

I keep hearing a lot of good things about the Jamo J-110 sub. How does/would this compare to that one?
Both seem to be about the same price range..
