i think we will start seeing more significant price drop on these units since cd's are starting to become obsolete and app radio or linking through the phone is the new trend now.

You could purchase another gps antenna for better reception.

Didn't check the features but the 8200 has a capacitive screen vs resistive on this one. I would have been pissed if this had a capacitive since I finally got sick of waiting for a cheap one and spent $450 on the Kenwood 7704S Frown

On a side note, I definitely recommend the idatalink Maestro if you have steering wheel controls. You can customize them to do whatever you want which is nice. Also adds some extra gauges and features and retains most factory settings if you already had a touchscreen.

Installed mine this weekend and its was pretty damn easy if you get the harnesses from idatalink. All the wires are a bit exhausting but separating the speaker wires out from the rest seems to make it a bit more bearable since that seemed like half of them.

Plan to get this one, how easy is to install it on a BMW X5? Where do I get the wires? Does it come with a backup camera?

lol because I am bored, I looked up your car on crutchfield(because they tell you everything you need). I went all the way back to 2012 version and assumptions. Aside from "fit unknown" the 2013 model actually said that it's not recommended to do. Gave me a chuckle Smilie

Unfortunately I'm not sure you will find your answer here. Maybe a dedicated BMW forum would be better. Also the brand for the easiest, most versatile steering wheel modules and harnesses, idatalink, doesn't even have BMW on their site.

At least now you have a reason to upgrade to a newer car? because this seems like a complicated process if you try it. It may even require you to go old school and chop up the connection to the stock radio. Good luck!

For sure, pioneer units are stuck in the past, spend hours with my unit trying to get CarPlay to work and push the video signal, no luck even with right tools and adaptersSmilie

What year is your X5?
Everything older than 2007 might work, after that more complicated.
Although BMW is one of the easier brands doing modifications, compared to newer Audi and Mercedes.
