The Economist and many other magazines are available digitally for free through your local or county library. Google "___________ [county] Library rb digital" or "___________ [county] Library zinio" to check.

Hi Randy,

It will only renew if you've selected the "DiscountLock" option that's in the checkout. If DiscountLock is un-selected, you can disregard that disclaimer, and you won't be renewed. You're welcome to PM me your order number after you place your order and we'll make sure that you won't get renewed.

Anyone try to use Paypal to order this? I'm concerned with clicking to Agree to this prompt:

"I want to use MasterCard x-xxxx for future payments to DISCOUNT MAGAZINES LLC. I understand that if this payment method is declined or expired, the payment method used will follow PayPal Policies and that if I have a PayPal balance, that balance will be used first to complete my payment. I can also change my payment method or cancel this authorization any time in my Settings."

Does this mean it will auto-renew me? I'd hate to be on the phone to cancel this thing and fight a salesperson.

This offer is valid for print only. You won't be able to convert it to digital.

Thanks for the reply. I just talked with The Economist customer service and it looks like I can switch at any time to digital and back once I have the customer reference number. Let me know if you have additional information that contradicts the CS's statement.

If you aren't familiar with it, it is a fabulous magazine. They make everything understandable. Strongly opinionated, but I tend to agree with them on everything, so that is okay.
Politics, news, health, science...

They cover Great Britain a bit too thoroughly, but they are British, so I guess that is to be expected.

We cannot guarantee this, so YMMV.

Agree, but it should be pretty easy to cancel, so it is worth to try. Thanks, OP!
