Love my 2012 Mac Mini. I put 16GB of memory and an SSD in it after purchase. This 2014 model only has 4GB of non-upgradeable memory, so buyer beware!

Mac Mini is a great small form computer. Mac OSX beats Windows by far. Great price too.

so there's no way to upgrade it to SSD? Frown

is it possible to connect a fast SSD via the Thunderbol port and move MacOS to the SSD?(and boot from it?) I could swear I saw a YouTube video of a guy doing that, but with the iMac.

Is Apple never going to update the Mac Mini? Frown

Thanks!

Probably could. But the 4GB non-upgradeable RAM is what kills it for me. It's just not enough if you're trying to keep the machine for several years.

I hope Apple updates the Mini. I'd be right there to grab one. But it probably won't happen as customers might then buy it instead of forking over more cash for Apple's higher profit margin products. Macbooks, iMacs etc.

Apple should just get some extra courage and make Mac Tiny..
because the current Mac Mini isn't really that small to begin with. Smilie

I love mine as well though I use mine as a headless server. Bought mine with 3 year AppleCare and had both drives replaced a couple months before it ran out with S.M.A.R.T. errors. 16gb upgrade here as well and it made a HUGE difference. 4 gb did ok on basic web and apps but not enough for more than that. Didn't do the SSD as I needed the dual tb of space though I may change that soon.

I signed up for email today but the promo code I received is not taking the $30 off. Anyone know of a way to still get the extra $30 off today?

Thanks

I would say this is a failed product from Apple. The memory so little and you are going to need SSD to make up the different when things starting to hit the swap. The HDD buried so deep inside the case too. Overall, not a convenient machine. It failed to compete with lower price product. If users really just need to browse a little internet and email, there are much cheaper alternative like Chromebox. Sorry. i like Mac OS but this Mac Mini just don't cut it. This is a $200 worth computer.
