I've never posted on here before but didn't see this on here. Apologies in advance if I missed something.
I was just at Walmart and saw the Roku Ultra on clearance for $64. Grabbed two of them to play with. Checked on Brickseek and a few stores around me had them at that price but not all so YMMV.

Just got my to Discover $34.00 checks. Took a month. Had to jump thru a lot of hoops, because Walmart had given he a $10.00 Discover credit by mistake, and they wanted to know where it came from. Almost wasn't worth the aggravation.
Yes, it was a PITA for me too.. they couldn't grasp how WM automatically refunded from $99 down to $64 when I picked it up.. I had to draw out a timeline, practically in crayon, and spoonfeed it to them to explain how all the math eventually added up.. I was about to say screw it too and just return the thing..

To me if Discover would rather not deal with the benefits they say they offer, they should not offer them and be upfront , honest, and respectful . I tend to just use the same credit card regularly without really thinking about it. I would rather not deal with a corporation who is really trying to purposely mislead me.
i bought the ultra on the deal and immediately had the issue you all talked about. Scouring the interwebs i found this fix for mine
You need to change output from 4:2:2 to 4:2:0 via secret menu (5xhome,down,left,3xup).

Thanks for this heads-up. I personally didn't experience this problem, but your post got me curious, so I did some googling and found that 4:2:2 is 12-bit, which is generally associated with Dolby Vision, which this Roku model doesn't even support, so it's very odd that it would be switching to that mode. Sounds like it's best practice to turn it off via this above method.
I just plugged in my Roku and it got an update to 8.0.0. In advanced settings you can change this now. You don't have to do the secret menu.
System > Advanced System Settings > Advanced Display Settings > HDR Subsampling

Cool, thanks for the heads-up! I just updated mine manually, it didn't prompt me to update, but I see this new option there now. It should have been there from the beginning rather than having to dig it out of a secret menu, and it still doesn't make sense to even have it there, as this unit doesn't support 4:2:2, from my understanding anyhow. But regardless, thanks again.
Does anyone have a recent screenshot of the Roku Ultra for $30.00? I linked the one mentioned in the beginning of the thread and had no luck with Discover. They mentioned they were unable to verify the price. Thanks!
Was pretty shocked to find a clearance Roku Ultra in my local Walmart today. It was stacked right there with the 2017 $99 Ultra's but had a different order of apps on the outer packaging box and didn't have the yellow price sticker/barcode. Asked the wally clerk to scan the price for me, sure enough - $25. He was quite surprised.
