I tried looking on the previous threads, but it's still not clear to me if I wanted to use the drive inside my PC, would it be possible on this particular product? Thanks!

I got 2 last time. Both blues.

Slapped those babies in the QNAP and She's not singin' the blues.

Does this require an external power adapter?

And can anyone comment on OP drive compared with this Seagate drive for about the same price?

Yes. Typically, anything marketed as a "desktop" hard drive will require external power, while those marketed as "portable" will not.

Pretty much the same. I'm sure someone will quote failure rates on WD vs Seagate, but in the end they're basically the same thing.

Some one in the DataHoarder subreddit said they got 4TB red drives on of their latest batch, but those could be old units.

As far as I know they are Blue now.

I would store movies and videos for PLEX. Would a 7200 RPM drive be better for transcoding?

Do these light up when plugged in with a BRIGHT blue light? I'm annoyed of the couple I have already from WD that are too bright. I prefer the ones I bought from Seagate. First world problems, I know.
