People have been able to access stock android and install smart things as well, not sure how well it works but I've seen it done.

Basically getting 4 smart switches which would normally run you $40 each.

It's an android base touch screen controller. It's hackable and a good deal.

It won't work with smartthings unless you hack it.

I picked up a Wink Hub on clearance at Home Depot right after the Hub 2 was released to start playing around with home automation. I've since upgraded to the Hub 2 and installed three of the Relay devices in the house. There are some limitations to them that could be improved (for one, they don't function as dimmers or speed controls for ceiling fans) but overall it's a good product and cheaper than buying two smart switches. Every device that can be controlled from the Wink app can be controlled from the Relay.

I am pretty new to smart homes so I want to ask. I have a Google Home only and I see that this works with Google Home. Do I still need a Wink Hub? Or can these two controllers work with Google Home directly? Thanks.

You will need a wink hub to be able to control the programmed buttons on the Wink Relay.

No, you don't need a Wink hub to control the Relay buttons. All you need is the Wink app. The Relay acts as a hub itself. The only limitation is that the Relays only support Zigbee and WiFi while The Wink hub also supports Bluetooth, Z-Wave, etc.

So I can "talk" to Google Home to control the lights connected to the Relay (2 per Relay) without a hub correct?

Looking to replace two dimmer switches next to each other on a wall, can this control both
Wink Relay switches cannot act as dimmers, so if that is your intent it will not work. If you want to remove the dimmers, and return the switch to a smart on/off switch - then this will work for that purpose.

Check for wink hub at HD they still show $35. Cheap but Gen 1. Should work with these relays anyhow.
