Definitely the lowest price for this sub. A 530 sale would be cool. But even JBL website is OOS. Hopefully they will produce more in future.

A steal at this price. I just ordered it from Amazon last week for $189.

This or BIC PL200 for $249? https://slickdeals.net/share/iphone_app/fp/321012
This. Not even close IMO. BIC starts to roll off below 45hz.

I've had been on the fence on this one because of a mix up on the Amazon reviews for the current sale.
For $170 I had to buy it! This along with a Benq 2050 earlier today has turned out to be a pricey day lurking on SD. Lol

...Anybody have any suggestions on a screen for my new HT? I'm thinking about getting like a 100" screen

Take note that this is a sealed sub. Most subs in this price range are ported. The JBL Site also shows the sub 550 with a frequency response down to 27Hz. They list no +/- 3dB number, so that could be and likely would be around 35Hz or maybe even higher. I would say steer clear of this sub, as there are ported subs in this price range to check out.

I lot of people prefer sealed subs. Ported subs are not better; it's a preferance. BTW, the technical specs are indeed +/- 3dB at 27 hz. Source JBL product site (spec sheet).

Also, check out this thread. The cabinet is 1" mdf and the driver is high quality.

Can you offer a couple of examples? I need to replace a non-working BIC Subwoofer

Sealed subs do have some positives. They tend to be smaller than ported and are generally considered good for music. They tend to perform best in smaller rooms. Both the JBL website for this sub and the newegg.com listing for this sub both have only the frequency response 27Hz-150Hz. If that is the +/-3dB point, that really should be noted.

The Jamo J-110 in white cabinet is still available on ebay for $179.99. That is a great sub and is rated down to 26Hz +/- 3dB.

Here is the official spec sheet that shows 27Hz at -3dB.
