I was just eyeing these a few days ago. Glad they are back in stock. Grabbed a TH670!

Are these used projectors? What's the catch with buying refurbished being 80% lamp life?

Is this better than Epson2045 in comparison?

Do you not know what refurbished means? Because you just asked if they were used then talk about how they were refurbished.

Yes, they were used, then returned for one reason or another. BenQ looked them over, fixed anything that needed to be fixed and put their guarantee on it. The catch is it's not new, but its Factory Direct refurbished with a limited warranty. The difference is buying "used" from Joe Schmoe doesn't come with a warranty, "Refurbished" from BenQ does.

In a dark room yes, in a room with no control over the lighting no. Also the Benq is DLP so there is a potential rainbow effect factor. The other difference commonly pointed out is the Epson has much cheaper replacement bulb costs vs the Benq

W1070 already OOS. It doesn't matter to me because I'm not in the market for any more projectors now.

Does BenQ leave the same bulb in the refurbished projector that it was returned to BenQ with provided it meets certain criteria? Lacking any details of their process, I assume they do not replace the bulb unless it's clearly near end of life (I forgot what BenQ's criteria was and couldn't find a FAQ there).

Does anyone know the process? Lacking any details, I'm going to assume they inspect the bulb or do some test on its brightness, and if it passes they reset the lamp timer to 0, do a few hours of tests, and off it goes to someone who gets excited seeing only 6 hours on the lamp when in fact it could have a huge number of hours on it.

If that's not right, let me know. Until someone presents evidence to the contrary, I have to assume all of us who get excited to report a refurb unit's lamp comes with < 10 hours of time on it are in fact being tricked and we are getting a bulb with some unknown random and potentially huge amount of hours on it.

I have a 2150ST that I bought refurb'd last time this deal was around. It came with literally 6 hours on the lamp with 98% lamp life remaining. I've purchased monitors through BenQ Refurb and can't recommend them enough. Love my new projector.

How big are you trying to project? I kind of went crazy and have a 2150st projecting onto a 135in screen in the same-ish room size. I sit 8 feet away from it and it's CRAZY. Highly recommend.
