Cathay Pacific has put their non-stop fares to Hong Kong (HKG) out of Los Angeles (LAX) down to $428 USD for departure dates running from January to May 2018. Leave on a Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday from Los Angeles for the cheapest fares.

There's lots of availability and you can easily find this fare on Google Flights using the link provided.

BUT, it's not bookable through Google Flights! So head to your favorite Online Travel Agent and book there using the dates found on Google Flights:

Expedia.com [Expedia.com]

Priceline.com [Priceline.com]
Orbitz.com [Orbitz.com]
etc

March and April are a great time to go to Hong Kong to avoid the monsoon season and days when it gets too hot and humid to be outside.

Holy cow this is dirt cheap, almost worth it to fly there, eat a bowl of noodle and then come back home.

No idea. I don't see any advertising on Cathay's site to indicate a special sale.

The fares book into O class which doesn't earn much on anyone expect Alaska (25%) or Finnair's (50%) FF programs. So there's that I guess!

Yup. I noticed that AA and HX have really pushed these fares down over the last month....but they are not Cathay and don't offer nearly as good a service! These very well may be the lowest fares in the last 30 years !
