Bad screen
Looking at the lower star reviews, it appears that reliability is an issue, not the screen, with the exception of the cracked screen during charging, which happened to an inexpensive 10.1 NuVision tablet I had.

i looked at the z8 and z10 from verizon and both had complains of the screen popping out randomly

Poor reliability seems surprising to me. I have the had cheap Zenpad 8" -- ~$125 on Amazon -- for about a year and it's been very reliable, a real bargain for the price.

Please enlighten me: I also saw that review. Has a screen cracking spontaneously even a thing?

Looks to be. My kids have these and they're solid, fast. 2k screen, 4GB ram, 64GB storage will store a lot of apps. Don't buy it for the camera.

They just got updated to the Sep/17 android security patch. Previous deal on ebay for $240, clearance sale from adorama.

Typical Mediatek. Okay CPU, weak GPU (about Snapdragon 801 level).

Don't expect many major OS upgrades.

Ok, so you suggest spending more for the Samsung? I'm no fan of mediatek on the Asus, and I would never buy this for myself as I like to tweek and flash sometimes, but for the average user this tablet is as good as any other flagship 10" tablet.

The biggest drawback of the Asus tablet is the lack of quick charger, not included with the tablet but sold separately for $30, and no stylus included, that's another $30 if you can get it for that price. I think the Samsung flagship includes both of these items, and the Samsung stylus does not require a battery, where the Asus stylus eats a A++++ battery (hard to find around the house). So to compare, decide if quick charge and stylus is important. If they are, then pass on this deal.

Yes I am hoping to get one for $240 or less again.

How is the build quality? Some posts talk about poor build.

I think batteries are the issue. When they swell they can put pressure on the screen and pop it out. Better than exploding though.

I'm using the 3s 10 as we speak and used it for several months already. Never had any issues with the screen popping out. Overall it's the best android 10" you can buy for the price. The battery is weak for sure but the screen is beautiful. If you play games, your battery will drain fast (5mins coc took out 5% battery). The sound is loud as well. Not ideal because the lowest setting before mute is rather loud in a quiet room. Overall I'm satisfied. Looking to get a 2nd one for the wifey. As for the build quality it definitely does not feel cheap.
