PSA: Walmart.com raising grocery prices online (maybe more?)

I have been shopping online at Walmart.com for certain groceries shipped to my home, and previously the prices were pretty consistent between in-store and online. Today, however, nearly everything in my cart has gone up in price, some have nearly doubled. (Example: this went from $2.48 to $4.58 [walmart.com] EEK!) Currently, everything in my saved for later section also shows the old price but when moved to cart shows the new higher price.

I only had grocery items in my cart, so I have no idea if they have been raising prices in other departments, but it's probably a good idea to use brickseek to check in-store prices before ordering anything.

I am guessing this is to cover their "free" shipping, but I thought other people who ordered groceries from Walmart online might like a heads up before they pay way too much!

I noticed this as well. But the price in the Store Availability section on the Walmart app shows the regular lesser price on items. Very odd.

I noticed the same thing yesterday. I have a long wish list, and absolutely every item went up from 70 cents to double. I was stunned.

They are slowly changing more and more prices, the item I posted in the OP has come down slightly (the ONLY price drop I noticed) while other things have gone up. Now that they are selling on Google Express, I noticed the prices there are slowly going up as well (which a few days ago were mostly in-store prices). Personally I would much rather be charged a reasonable shipping fee rather than be overcharged on each and every item in my cart, but I will just order from Target from now on.

Also, I am a bit curious who this was thumbs downed by, even as overpriced items are being promoted to front page. I thought the community would be interested in huge price increases in a popular store, guess not.

A lot of the items in my cart were Great Value brand so not offered on Amazon, and some of the other items were/are lower priced on Amazon so that isn't the case.

I've noticed the same, when paper goods on amazon went up I started using walmart, and expanded to get many groceries. Walmart has been systematically raising prices or larger items and now heavier items (some over 100%). I even saw my gum went up 25%. Apparently they noticed they weren't able to compete with their store prices. Such a shame, back to amazon and other online retailers I guess....

I started using walmart for paper goods that once were a good deal on amazon but went up quite some time ago. Then as walmart dropped free shipping to $35 I started adding groceries, as it was cheaper than my local grocery store. I've seen all the paper goods deals rising and now even the groceries, some as much as 100% (like ocean spray diet cran cherry) even juicy fruit gum has gone up 25%. I imagine walmart is noticing items that they are losing money on through the free shipping because larger and heavier items went 1st. I'm moving most of my ordering back to amazon or other online distributors.

All the things I have been buying online from Walmart have skyrocketed. Up 30-50 percent. It is almost small convenience store pricing on things suddenly. Enough to make me open a Target account and I have started shopping and buying from Target.

I noticed the same thing yesterday! An item that I paid 89 cents for, went to 2.08. Another item was 2.58 and went to 4.08. I called the store to verify the price in store and it was indeed 2.58. Bummer! I'll have to shop with Target or Amazon now. :-(

Some of the things I've purchased...as recent as September 13, 2017 have gone doubled, plus. Such as Idahoan potatoes...paid .88, now it's $2.48. The 4 pack of Del Monte Corn I ordered online was $3.58, now it's 6.98. Not quite doubled, but ridiculous! I did notice, however, that my non food items have almost stayed the same. maybe the price increase is temporary due to...I don't know...them sending supplies to Hurricane victims?!? Maybe, hopefully!

Walmart donates food and everyone should now pay near double?

Have you seen how much the Walton Family has donated towards ANY charity? 0.1%

Oh man I saw this a few weeks back. This is absolutely ridiculous. I thought it was a mistake but everything has gone up in the last few weeks. I can't afford to shop Wal-Mart online anymore.

I've also noticed that Target.com is now cheaper on most grocery items than Walmart.

I've been buying on Walmart.com for a few years now. I noticed several months ago that some of my favorites to purchase, such as jumbo packs of toilet paper, were being reclassified as "in store only". Yesterday saw that my other faves including Great Value almonds and Equate body wash were way up, with the body wash more than double. There seems to be more to this than just dropping products have a negative affect on shipping cost. The in-store price of my almonds dropped from $5.99 to $5.14 according to the site. Are they trying to drive more people into the store possibly? Or could this be in preparation for Google Express?
