There are a few initial questions asked to see if a person qualifies for an eye exam, such as are your current contacts comfortable or are you experiencing any issues with your eyes or eye wear. I suspect if a person was experiencing problems and everything wasn't okay currently, 1800-contacts would refer you to an in-person visit with an eye doctor.

I also am unsure if this works with eyeglasses. I can confirm that I received a free renewal prescription, but I did indicate I wear contacts prior to the exam.

I received my renewal prescription in less than 15 minutes and it is good for one year.

...I wouldn't say the doctor cheated you. Contact fitting cost is usually not covered and is done at each exam in which you are getting contacts. For my eye insurance, the exam is free and be fitting is $10. You can tell the doctor anything you want, but they do the fitting to make sure nothing has changed about your eye. Should the doctor not do the fitting since you tell them not to (putting them under possible liability if anything happened with contacts that they didn't fit) or should they do it and just not charge you for it? If you were in the doctor's place, I think you'd want to do the best job with each patient and make sure you gave them each a thorough exam each time.

Awesome! Will give this a try when I get home.

I hate wasting my time at the eye doctor every year for the same RX. They always try to push unnecessary tests and additional contact samples.

Last time I found out the Dr cheated me by sending me home with unwanted samples. He then billed the insurance for a fitting, even though I told him I wanted exactly what I previously had.

Yes it does i use both contacts and prescription lenses. Also mine doesn't change so this is a good cheap quick way to renew online.
