they removed built in ethernet from the Fire TV. you have to pony up an additional $15 for their adapter. ontop of that, you will have the Fire box requiring wall outlet power and the network adapter requiring an additional power source.

4k 30/60fps is useless for most over wifi...

Oh ffs. The part about the Ethernet, adapter and an additional outlet being required is insanity on Amazon's part.

i rip my blu rays without any compression. they stream ~30Mbps.
you will now have both of these behind your TV if you want a wired connection:

This "new" fire tv seems like a gigantic step backwards, losing ethernet and card input.
So my external wireless keyboard won't have a port to plug the usb dongle into either?

I appreciate the heads-up, but don't appreciate amazon's approach, so should I thumbs up this or down? I guess up for the info.

After reading all the comments, seems the title should have been "Amazon Hardware Downgrades" not "Amazon Hardware Update"

"for most"

My wifi is great. I still wouldn't ditch a wired connection to my media server. Uncompressed Blu-Rays have a bitrate around 30Mbps. That's not something you want 3 different TVs trying to pull in wirelessly.
