What would be the advantage of going for the platinum over this?

A bigger sign up bonus that also includes Medallion Qualifying Miles. Additionally, the Platinum Delta card offers the ability to earn more MQM's based on spending tiers (which help you reach elite status).

Sorry, I should have been more specific. What are the advantages of the MQM's?

My wife already has the Gold. Debating whether she should upgrade her card to the Platinum or if I should apply for the Gold myself.

I mean, the companion pass on the Platinum would be a huge advantage over the Gold.

I don't know much about Delta's restrictions (if any)

MQMs are how you get actual status in Delta versus accumulation of miles themselves.

i.e. You won't automatically get Gold status in Delta by signing up for this card.

With their latest change to their program, to get diamond status via credit card spend you need to spend $250,000 per year. That's not a typo.

Just delta.

This cards is worth it for people who actually use delta often, or are situated near a delta hub.

Also. The priority boarding is a joke. It's actually 3rd or 4th in sequence.
