I suspect these might be from the bad batch earlier this year.

Why is that? I would assume Amazon has been moving any stock they have

Do you have more info? What was bad with the batch you are referencing?

Some of the early joy-cons had syncing issues due to internal interference. Nintendo was quick to fix this with a piece of insulating foam inside the joy-cons and the issues have been resolved since. That said, if yours does have this issue, they've also been great about repairs an I think most people have gotten theirs back in a week from shipping them out.

That's possible, but the gray color isn't very popular. I'd be concerned they still have left-overs. Not a bad price just to have an extra pair lying around.

The price on these are nuts. $66 on sale still seems like apple level price gouging.

No joke. The Bad Batch is a movie based on a real place in Russia. Cannibal Island.

Yes it's high if you look at it as one controller, but if you think of as two controllers, as most multiplayer games treat it, then it's a great deal especially for Mario Kart. Each individual Joy Con in horizontal mode has two shoulder buttons, four face buttons, one analog stick + click button, one "start" button (+ or -). It also has two additional shoulder buttons (used when paired together, not really when in horizontal mode) and one special button (home or capture). So lots of buttons on a little controller.

Plus, each side has full motion controls and rechargeable battery. Also, right controller has IR camera and NFC, so you get more technology than other system's controllers.
