Thanks lpd82,

Folks this is a very nice feature, the ability to adjust the FOV and focus!

This gives you a chance to maximize your ID chances for your setup. Very good price for a quality product.

Hi TechMan,

Indeed! imho this should hit fp and/or get sold out quickly. Especially for the folks who managed to get the LaView NVR deal this AM from Newegg for $299.

Price maybe good. But it being a dome is a negative for me.

So I just bought the LaView system this morning. I want to end up with the full 8 cameras.

-Is the only difference between these two the resolution?
-Why is the dome a negative? I understand the glare factor (mine are under a porch) but are there other reasons?
-Is it safe to buy directly from the LaView site?

Thanks!
Nick

What is the 3 step installation? I'm planning to use it in front of my garage door. How do they hold up against the sun?

Hi Nick, get the 3MP version it can do 1080p at 30fps if you like.

Domes - glare is the big one, also over time direct UV will degrade the plastic.

IR light glare issue at night can be solved by using an external IR illuminator.

Hi Black99vn,

Over time the plastic will degrade with direct UV exposure - you can make some sort of shade / hood for it and it will last longer.

The difference is the sensor size. 2mp and 3mp
glare and possible discolor/degrading of the dome from direct sunlight.

and yes its safe to buy from LaView.

Also i would suggest anyone buying cameras consider the lighting of the area at night. Its easy to find cameras that work great during the day. The challenge is to find something that works good during both day and night. Nothing is more frustrating than having video of an event at night that is worthless.

Interested in knowing this 3 step too. I didn't read wireless anywhere so this 3 step installation sounds to easy to be true.

Thank you for the info. I really want more cameras but maybe I should work with what I have first to check for glare and other possible negatives. Does seem like a great deal though!

Hi nrc17gto,

Indeed a good deal... hard sometimes to decide what to do.

I have one dome camera in a spot which is well lighted and shaded most of the time ( front porch ) and that turns out to be a good location for a dome camera as someone can easily reach it and the dome helps give it some vandal resistance.

You could always pick up this set of 2 and when you find which location around your house has the most glare issues put different cameras in that location.

I really like that they are varifocal.

Nice deal for two 3MP varifocal POE cameras. I normally get a single 2MP fixed lens for the same price from a decent brand
