Looks good - wish the case width was a little larger - 38 mm seems small

Noob question, apologize I don't know much about watches.

Question: For Swiss watches, I've usually seen Swiss Made written underneath the 6oclock register. Hamilton is HQ'd in Switzerland. I don't see that on this one, so does that mean this isn't Swiss made or is that how Hamilton watches are ?

I don't know the entire answer to your question, but swiss is written on the movement on the back.

It is small, but I love it. It's a perfect size for that classic field watch look. And it wears larger than you'd expect, thanks to it's 15mm thickness and wide lug spacing.

Personally, I don't care for larger watches unless they're divers. But everyone's taste and style is different.

That would mean that the movement is of Swiss origin but the watch was assembled somewhere else. If the watch said "Swiss Made" on the dial then it would indicate it was assembled in Switzerland as well.

Hamilton originated as a US company that was sold to a Swiss company in the 1970s. This particular watch uses a very nice and well-respected Swiss automatic movement, the Valjoux 7750. The Hamilton site states their headquarters and production were moved to Switzerland in 2003, and Ashford (and other watch retailer sites) state the country of origin in Switzerland, so I think it's safe to say this is a Swiss watch.

Thanks for all the info everyone.

This again is my personal opinion and ymmv : I just think 'Swiss Made' is a Hallmark too important to miss or left for watch owners to assume for. From Patek Philippe to Rolex to all who's who of Swiss watches I've seen in pictures or in store I've seen the words either Swiss or Swiss Movt or Swiss Made inscribed on the front dial below/besides the 6 o'clock register. Again this is my personal opinion, to me these inscribed words on a reputed manufacturer watch gives the sense of authenticity, a value, a feeling which otherwise I would miss.

I know some of you may be thinking, 'eh what the heck, giving too much importance to these words' but again my opinion is probably because I've noticed or seen few reputed watches have that. Again being a noob, I don't know if all Swiss manufacturers maintain that standard but at least what I've seen.

Each one of us have totally different opinions of course 😊

I respect your opinion. Here's mine. The Swiss made words can be used when certain requirements are fully met and approved. To be Swiss made a certain percentage of parts HAVE to be Swiss made. The percentage and other requirements are ultimately the minimum standards that a majority of watch companies follow. If you hit the minimum standards - profits per watch are improved. Hamilton is made by the largest watch company in the world. The Swatch group. They will hit minimum standards in practically all of the watches they create except maybe their top lines created such as Omega. This Hamilton watch is a minimum standard watch produced in a mass manner for mass profit. That's all.

With that being said - I may be in for one.

Nice alternative to the Sinn 356, at a fraction of the cost.

The selection of automatic pilot/field chronographs at 40mm is small and shrinking. There are almost no options left below 40mm.

Meanwhile, if you want one in the 42mm+ range, you are already spoilt for choice...
