Saw this smart bulb at Amazon with the lowest price ever according to camelcamelcamel @ $12.99., ships in 2 to 4 weeks. I have not used these before, but will try out a pair for $13/each.

https://www.amazon.com/Sengled-Li...01MQVYNFL/

Specs say ZigBee and can do the 2700K-6500K color spectrum. Reviews mention a problem changing the color in SmartThings around Aug, but a recent update appears to resolve it.

Requires a smart hub, the manufacturer's FAQ currently says compatible with their branded hub, Wink, and SmartThings at the moment. Says not compatible with Philips Hue, Wemo, Cox Homelife nor Comcast Xfinity.

FAQ on hubs compatible and related FAQ questions after [sengled.com]

Important point I see in the FAQ is that these do not act as ZigBee repeaters.

I bought one two weeks ago and it works well with the Smatthings hub. It remembers the last setting after a power outage.

OK probably just used imprecise language. Likely he bought 2 @ 12.99 each = 26 for the pair.

I have 18 of these bulbs and they are great basic dimmable smart bulbs.

Work perfectly with no issues out of the box with Smartthings hub.

As per the FAQ linked by OP:

The Element Plus is incompatible with the Philips Hue bridge, Wemo smart hub, Cox's Homelife platform, and Comcast's Xfinity Home platform.

The bulbs in the OP are not the basic ones. The basic ones are on sale for $9
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01N7I4X94

I have a couple of the basic ones, and they are a little 'warm' in color. The bulb in the OP should in addition to dimming, go from warm-cold/daylight in whiteness. If you do have the 'plus' bulbs, and are having trouble with the color temp adjustment in SmartThings, the device handler was supposed to have been fixed by Samsung a couple of weeks ago. I read that my hope was when Philips opened up to Sylvian and Ikea brands maybe they stopped being stupid and let other brands in. but thank you sir.

If you mean functioning as a ZigBee repeater, I don't think so. The FAQ has an answer that specifically says the Element Plus (the 2700k-6500k tunable white bulb) does not act as a repeater.
