Can anyone provide some insight into this deal? Looks great to me, but I'm certainly not a computer expert.

FWIW, the Costco laptop is a traditional laptop - not a 2in1. It is also from the Pavilion line, not the Envy line as the one in the OP.

This is more comparable, with slightly better specs for $1000 https://www.costco.com/HP-ENVY-x3...82503.html

Never owned or used an HP laptop, so asking those who have. What's the big difference between the Pavillion line and the Envy line besides one is a 2-in-1 vs one is a touch screen laptop? These seem like both solid deals for next Gen processors from HP and Costco.

For the same price, you can get Lenovo at costco ( Item #1178651)

If this included a 256gb SATA SSD, I'd have been on it. I can't deal with a mechanical drive anymore... It's almost 2018. HP has a rather poor reputation on reliability and customer support also, so keep that in mind. Their ENVY and Spectre lines are their more premium consumer lines as opposed to Pavilion (which is budget).

The new 8550U's are actually quad core, so these are much better performing than previous generation U model processors which were dual core.

I however agree, at this price it should have an SSD. A shame to sell a convertible laptop with a mechanical HDD.

The 256gb SSD is $130 extra, but still not a bad deal at $860 considering all the specs and being a 2 in 1.
