Would you consider these a better choice for home theater over the usual Harmon Kardon hkts 16 or 30??

it's not HVAClaugh out loud but speakers do move air Wink ! anyway - would suggest to stay away from squarish layouts ! and ~15'X22' w/8' ceiling would be around you max size ! anything larger ?! depending on layout - it may get lost / shallow sounding ! Rock

I love mine. In a 12×13 room, driven solely by a Panasonic SA-HE 100, they provide remarkable sound, yet are nearly invisible.

I had got both and kept the hkts16. Polk centre is better than the one included in hkts 16 but the compact size of the hkts sub, better satellite speakers, included mounts and slightly cheaper than the polk system made me keep the hkts 16

Wait until the Energy Take Classics go on sale again for under $200. Slightly larger drivers will yield much bigger sound. It Is the best satellite set up, and a big step up from a HTIB. 3" vs 2.5" mid bass drivers and .75" vs .50" tweeters. That's a big difference when trying to reproduce voices for HT.

While I agree that the Energy sat set are much better satellites, that set lacks a sub, and it is noticeable. (edit: correct me if I'm wrong, please, if the Energy set that was $200 included the sub) If we are talking specifically home theater, I'd say the sub included with this set makes a much more viable option.

That said, you can find pretty much any powered sub on FB marketplace or Craigslist for relatively cheap. So if you can get the Energy's with a cheap powered sub to tuck away, definitely an overall better deal.

Edit: We would also be remiss to not drop the comparable Mono price home theater set [monoprice.com] that several sites actually favor over the Energy's from a sound perspective. Aesthetically, the Monoprice system is far inferior. If you can score free shipping from Monoprice, you're saving money and getting, arguably, a better system over all.

It was $162 shipped including the sub posted here on SD 3 weeks ago. It will be back. If you search Energy Take it comes up. I own the Monoprice set with the sub. The Energy set is much nicer looking IMO but sound is similar.

Bro, I'm not just going to search it I'm going to set a deal alert. That's a wicked deal! I need that for my family room. Energy's look significantly better than the Monoprice system. The Monoprice system just screams cheap. Even if it sounds good, if it doesn't pass the wife acceptance factor test, it's irrelevant. Thanks for the heads up! In the past when I've priced the Energy sets it was a 5.0 system for that price. With sub is a crazy deal.
