Nvidia Shield Pro on Clearance at Target B&M $209.96 + tax YMMV

-9 Deal Score

Just picked up the only on one my local store had, it may have been a one time thing at this store because the receipt shows Entertainment-Electronics DVD. The cashier also remarked that he was happy to sell it because it had been sitting there forever.

Probably a extreme YMMV, but if you are on the market for one it might be worth taking a look the next time you are at a Target.

SKU on receipt is 008060048

I didn't even know there were multiple versions of the Shield. The pro has a 500GB hard drive. Is that the only difference? Can someone upgrade the regular version on their own (more than 500GB)? Can the Shield Pro download your Vudu movies so they can be played offline?

Well in a way you're better off with the 16GB version. Plug cheaper storage in via USB. This makes the 16GB Shield 100% solid state.

I guess it would be a waste to have a 1TB SSD and then clog it with mainly storage. Is it possible to use the Shield to download your Vudu movies to an external hard drive and view them offline? That would be a huge plus for 4K content so I only need to download it once instead of every time I stream.

I just got the Roku Ultra but was really considering a shield because it seems to be much more capable however does it support all of the same apps? Will I still be able to get Vudu, ESPN, DisneyXD, Nickelodeon, FXNow, HBO Go, Amazon Prime? I would hate to get this and then not be able to stream Simpsons episodes through FXNow.

This was probably an online order that wasn't picked up or returned to the store. Nice find though!

Technically you can sideload any android app on the Shield TV. Some apps you may need an air mouse to get it to work. I'm pretty sure Vudu ships with the shield, though, so it should work out of the box.

I've never ran the Vudu app, so I don't know about ripping from online. No doubt you can download to your PC or phone, and transfer to the Shield. But yea, for 4k content that probably would take forever unless you're hardwired pc to shield.

Actually yea, the clearance sticker said online on it. How does that normally work clearance wise?

I'm not 100% sure, but they probably had it in a case somewhere and after so many days of it not being sold, it gets marked down. Stores have reports on merchandise that's not on planogram and/or has not been moving in terms of sales. They periodically run the report and then mark down the item. I'm not sure how often they do it though. Sometimes you'll find stuff at Target that has multiple stacked clearance stickers. That means they've marked it down a few times already.

Air mouse isn't required. The controller can function as the mouse. Click the right thumbstick on those apps and cursor will show.
