Anker's following up its incredibly popular dash cam with a new model, and you can race over to Amazon to snag one for $68 with code AKROAV4U.(Last post is Anker dashcam C1 for $68) What do you think?

The C2 model has a few differences. Notably, it operates at a wider temperature range, so if you live in an extreme climate, this is the model for you. It also upgrades the screen from 2.4" to 3", and packs in a new Sony Exmor sensor and Ambarella A12 chipset. However, unlike the original, it doesn't include Wi-Fi, so you'll have to plug your microSD card into a computer to export your footage.

Features:
TOTAL NIGHT-VISION: NightHawk technology and WDR (Wide Dynamic Range) video system deliver completely balanced images and footage. Clearly capture license plates—day or night.
RICH, CLEAR VIDEO: Advanced Sony Exmor IMX323 sensor and Ambarella A12 chipset combine to capture every drive in brilliant, 1080p detail.
SEE THE WHOLE ROAD: Equipped with an f2.0 wide-angle aperture lens, comprised of 5 lens elements, to capture 4 lanes of traffic and record more than just the car in front.
EXTREME TEMPERATURE RESISTANCE: Designed with a steel frame to disperse heat away from internal circuits. Operates in -4℉-158℉.SEAMLESS SET-UP: 2 installation methods—a suction cup and a 3M adhesive sticker—allow you to perfectly position DashCam on any windshield.
WHAT YOU GET: Roav DashCam C2, Trim Removal Tool, 2-Port USB Car Charger, Suction and 3M Sticker Mounts, User Manual, Happy Card, our 12-month product replacement warranty and friendly customer service.Note: Operation requires a microSD card (not included). 32GB Samsung or SanDisk class 10 SD card recommended.

Very tempting. But everyone says the old camera sensor was better. This one they updated the resolution but a lot of the reviews said the quality was very cloudy like.

Does this have a battery for standby power or a supercapacitor?
It does charge and runs without power, how long it will do so is a question I don't know. The longest it has sat without power for me is overnight so far.
Just see it on Question & Answer, hope it helps you. Thanks

Just stay away from all the battery operated dash cams made by Anker including the C2. They burn swell screen comes and it is just pain in the b**tt doing endless exchanges . They ended up refunding me for the $100 hardwire install fee after many months since early May! If you don't drive all the time and park in sun for hours even in just 80F, it goes bad and become useless! A buddy of mine advised me to never again purchase or use any battery made dashcam as they are intended for occasional and temporary use only since they can never survive hot or freezing cold temp for long. I am probably buying A119S.

Never had a problem with my c1 that I'm still using in Texas heat where normal "cool" days are in the mid 90's and almost always reach 100+ for days at a time. I may have received an updated camera though seeing as I've never had a problem. I hear anker's customer support is awesome.

Anyway let me explain again, if you park indoor in shade then heat is non issue! If you drive with your AC on then heat is non issue. This things like any battery made dash cams don't survive for long when you are parked outdoor hrs a day in sun and you don't drive a lot! This is why battery made dash cams are cheaper to make for the makers and they are for use occasionally cos they go bad in heat and freezing temp. Updated or not I tried them all and they all burn swell and detaches! Been going on for several months ! Awesome customer service is meaningless if the product is bad

Anyway..like omg let me explain/sarcasm....
And you're assuming that I don't park in the sun all day every day? Lol..ok. I do park in direct sunlight everyday and drive in direct sunlight every day. I've owned enough dash cams to tell whether the sun is affecting the performance or battery from excessive heat exposure. I also understood your first post. Like I said, I must have gotten a later model of the c1 where it has been mentioned by anker that the later c1's have more internal room for expansion of the battery which doesn't affect performance or bulging of the screen which is what most people are reporting with damaged c1's.

if what you are telling is truth, I believe you are that you park outdoor and in sun during the day and all night, then your updated C1 may continue to work for sometime but I am sure it won't survive another summer heat next year if you continue to park in sun or outdoor.

So far NONE of the dashcams Anker sold and continue to sell survived 90F heat as I park outdoor and I don't drive out a lot everyday! All the amazon reviews by others say the same thing and look at their social media page!

In theory if you live in an area of hot climate, you don't want a battery operated dash cam. But is this thread getting thumbs down for the dash cam using a battery or is this just not a good deal?

By the way, it comes with Anker's PowerDrive A2310 car charger.

"Advanced Charging Technology: PowerIQ and VoltageBoost combine to provide the fastest possible charge up to 4.8 amps or 2.4 amps per port. (Does not support Qualcomm Quick Charge)."
