Thanks to the website's tracking 'feature' the link above doesn't work for me. Metrics [are] more important than functionality?

correct this would be a 3.5".

SSD's are 2.5" that need an adapter to mount to 3.5"

Free SATA connection on the mobo, a power hookup, and an open bay in your computer. Unless you're using a really compact case there should be power and room available. Be sure to check if the drive comes with a spare SATA cable otherwise you might need to buy one (shouldn't be more than a buck or two).

Thanks for the tip. I am only looking to store movies on a bigger HDD like this. I know some people don't like WD as much nowadays. I saw it has a 2-year warranty. Think this would be a decent fit?

Which color drive is generally considered the best WD drive these days?

BTW, this drive is only $10 more at Amazon, so not sure how hot this deal really is. Better than nothing if you were going to buy one anyway. Otherwise, saving just 9% does not seem very hot. Maybe Amazon will price match for those buying this drive.

Can't get the code to redeem.

I put in the code it says (minus 10 bucks) grand total 99.99

Then at the confirmation screen, it does not include the code

Black > Blue (which replaced Green...or maybe it was phased out).
They have Red, Blue, Purple, Black... who knows what else.

Stick to Red or Blue i guess...?

I've been sticking with red. They are awesome and that $160 easystore deal was supreme. I hope that comes back

Depends on how you define "best". For a desktop PC, Black has the best speed and warranty. Works great as a primary drive if you don't have an SSD. 5yr warranty.

Secondarily, you can use a Red either as a single desktop drive or NAS drive. In a PC, good as a data drive but I would use an SSD as the boot/program drive. The Red is an upgraded Green - not only does it have different firmware but it also has some vibration protection (which is something that most people don't cite). The Red is rated higher and has a 3yr warranty.

The Blue (and Green) are "consumer" lines with the shortest warranties. The 7200rpm Blue (1TB) is the original Blue line. The 5200rpm Blues are the old Green line. They just merged these colors together.

Purple = Surveillance and constant recording/writing.

Red Pro = Upgraded Red @ 7200rpm. Even more shock resistance.

Gold = Updated Red Pro @ 7200rpm. Even more shock resistance than Red Pro. Enterprise-Class.
