Seems like a pretty decent deal. If anyone wants to "chime" in, how does this kit do with smart things? I'm currently looking at the Blink camera system but if this Ring kit is decent then I might go with it for the sake of keeping my products in the same brand. Thanks for your input!

Door bell = $179
Stickcam = $179 x2
Chime = $27.99
Total around $565
Maybe cheaper $50-$100 on/off promo deals

My brother recently installed a Ring Stickcam on the front of his house and he is extremely disappointed in the "lag time" between when the picture is being recorded and when it shows up on his phone. He definitely would not purchase this item again.

Do these have to be installed together as one system? I am thinking of gifting the Doorbell to my daughter at her house.

Do you have to pay $30 yearly subscription for each stick and camera for motion sensor recording?

No, you don't have to.

I was just looking at this as well. It seems more of these security camera companies are delving into home security.... Best Buy is also selling the Ring Home Security system kit with sensors & control panel. Then I saw an advertisement at the bottom for pre-orders for the Nest Home Security System kit. Comes with a round key panel device; key fobs; sensors; app; optional outdoor cam.

Unless You Are Familiar With This Technology, I'd suggest proceeding cautiously. The Connected Home environment is still (pretty much) in the First Gen arena.

If you have the time to put in and the bandwidth to support all of your needs, I'd suggest starting with a single device like a Nest or Honeywell thermostat. These can bring serious cost-savings in many homes that may not even have an analog programmable thermostat.

As far as gifting a set like this, be prepared to spend some serious time with the recipient making ALL off this work. You might no longer be friends Confused

IMHO.....
