Decent sale on this speaker available at a number of retailers... $199.99 across a mix of colors, depending on the retailer. MSRP is $299.99. I've seen refurb sales go for lower than this, but this is the best price I've seen for BNIB for a while. *now $195 at various merchants*

Sale available at:

Why does anyone pay $200+ for these type of speakers anymore? There is so many quality off brand speakers on Amazon in the $20-$30 range. Just for the brand I guess?
And the good customer support.

Also the app and ability to use 2 at the same time.

Agree to disagree. The $29 speaker I bought has a higher rating on Amazon than this one. I would challenge you to buy both and compare, then return the other one to Amazon.
Too many bias reviews on Amazon... especially cuz of the many that are given the speaker dirt cheap.

Rofl. I disagree.

This is 4.1 with 1400 reviews, and none of them were paid by Logitech.

Big fan of this speaker, very loud and quality, water proof. To be honest, you get what you pay for. I went years buying $5 - $50 dollar speakers and it added up and they weren't any good.

I bought this for $199 new from T-Mobile on a slickdeal back during original release after liking the regular boom and reading a few positive reviews. Since 2015, this little monster has been a beast and still one of my best value purchase in years. A lot of comments on how loud it is and "What speaker is that?" at the beach, near the pool, camping and indoors or on the porch. When they introduced the ability to pair with regular booms and megabooms, it got a bunch of my friends to pickup the regular boom speaker. A recent release just introduced Alexa access to the speaker also.

I think this is a steal at $149, if it were ever to drop that low. However, after playing with Bose's new monster portable speaker at target -- I've got my eyes on a slickdeal for that.

Is your $29 speaker going to get anywhere close to as loud as the megaboom?

-UE is owned by Logitech, so you're buying from a real brand
-IPX7 waterproof
-Loud and good sound quality
-Good battery life

I'm not saying your $30 speaker doesn't hit any of the above, but it certainly doesn't hit all of them. This speaker is well regarded, as indicated by any of the 8 reviews included in my OP, which also were reviewing the product at a price 33% higher than listed here.

I have speakers from Anker, Aukey, Harman Kardon, and Jambox. Some were cheap, some were expensive. To me, it's sometimes worth buying a higher end item that does exactly what I want instead of compromising for a cheaper product.

If this speaker is not for you, that's fine, but unless you have a better price for the same item, please move on. I don't want this to turn into a "BMW vs Hyundai" or "Rolex vs Timex"-type discussion -- I understand that there are cheaper products that have similar functionality. But they are not this product, and speaking in generalities about how great you think your $30 Amazon speaker is does not advance the conversation.

If you're content with $29 speakers, then be glad you don't feel the need to spend $200 to enjoy music. No need to threadcrap with your opinions.

So by your "logic" A $8 pair of headphones with 4.5 stars and 50k reviews is better than any other set?

People seriously need to be skeptical of Amazon ratings. Yes they are still useful information but there are lot's of ways companies manipulate the ratings. Pay reviewers, give the item for cheap, give the item for free, etc. It's even officially supported by Amazon through the vine program. I was once offered a completely different item for free if I left a positive review for an item I just bought too.
